Lijiang Anlu Private Soup Hotel

Amazing hotel in the ancient city of Lijiang. First they are always available for any information before arriving, we booked 2 tours with them and both were good (and good tour guides) At the arrival they come to pick up our luggage as no car can enter in the ancient city We had lunch at their place and was also good We had a small problem in our room and they fix They let us stay a bit longer and arranged a taxi and brought luggage to the taxi One staff member speaks English and it's important for those who do not speak Chinese The rooms are good (we took the triple room) clean, with all products and comfortable beds Breakfast is more Asian style but we love it And the view?....wow ❤️ I think it is the best option for any traveler who wants to stay in a fancy place with one of the best views of the old town and just 2 minute walks from the old town square

A Terribly Disappointing Stay Marred by Unprofessional Service   Our experience was profoundly disappointing, primarily due to the unprofessional and manipulative behavior of one specific male, English-speaking staff member, coupled with significant issues regarding the hotel's location and room maintenance. “Unprofessional and Manipulative Staff Conduct” The majority of our problems stemmed from one individual. Our stay began with our luggage being damaged. Instead of an apology, he responded with dismissive questions about the bag's age and our travel insurance. He then offered a "complimentary" ride to the train station as compensation, a promise he later tried to retract at checkout, causing an uncomfortable confrontation. This staff member repeatedly invaded our privacy by attempting to join our private breakfast and entering our room uninvited under a false pretext. Most appallingly, during checkout, he blatantly pressured us to leave a positive review on Trip.com in his presence. When we declined, he insisted that if we "don't feel good," we shouldn't write a review at all. This coercive attempt to manipulate the hotel's online rating is completely unacceptable. It is important to note that our issues were with this individual only; other staff members were courteous. “Inaccessible Location & Safety Concerns” The hotel's location is extremely challenging. It is situated on a steep hillside, accessible only by climbing a long flight of old, uneven stone steps that are hazardous and slippery when wet. This is entirely unsuitable for travelers with mobility issues or heavy luggage. Our luggage was damaged while being carried up this path by staff. Furthermore, we faced safety and service issues with our room. We were initially assigned the wrong room, which did not match our booking photos. The correct room, while spacious, had a broken door lock that was never fixed. We returned one day to find our room had been left unlocked by housekeeping, a serious lapse in security. “Conclusion & Recommendation” While our final room was clean, this could not compensate for the stressful experience caused by one staff member's unacceptable behavior, the serious accessibility challenges, and the security flaws. I cannot recommend this hotel. Travelers, especially those with heavy bags or mobility concerns, would be far better off booking accommodation in a more accessible part of the old town.

I decided last minute to visit Lijiang without any planning, but luckily I booked the Lijiang Anlu Private Soup Hotel. Despite arriving at the airport quite late, the hotel arranged a free car pick-up for me. Upon arrival, the manager, Mr. Yeung, greeted me and helped carry my luggage, even up the stairs. During check-in, he offered freshly prepared tea and had already organized my entire itinerary for the next few days. He suggested a good private driver and helped arrange some tours, making my trip completely worry-free. Their service is attentive and excellent! The hotel itself is modern, very comfortable, and clean. Even late in the evening, the manager would arrange a "Chinese soup" bath to help me relax. I highly recommend this hotel, but be sure to request a room in the new wing when making your reservation.
