LOCATION: In town centre facing Station Rd. Cars from Norton Way should turn into Station Rd at roundabout and take first left into Openshaw Way. Public car parking just off this road, just past a right hand bend, second left. Hotel is a little further up Openshaw Way from car park. Plenty of shops, restaurants, etc. Railway station just a short walk away. From the car park to the hotel is a bumpy, uphill push for a wheelchair. Later we overcame this by parking short term on yellow lines nearer the hotel. You can do this for up to three hours if you display a blue badge. PUBLIC AREAS: Bright and clean. There is a small restaurant serving breakfasts, also a small selection of evening meals, together with wines and other drinks if desired. Staff friendly and helpful. BEDROOM: Comfortable bed. Small bedside tables, with light controls, but no drawers. Small wardrobe. Adequate sized desk. Good bright room lighting with subdued lighting from bedside lights if preferred. ON-SUITE FACILITIES: This is where Premier Inn excels - disabled-friendly rooms bookable on-line. This room had a wet-room style shower, including seat and ample safety support rails. Curtains round shower area and good floor sloping kept water within shower area, without encroaching into other parts of the room. Plenty of towel hanging space. OVERALL: Owing to limited storage space, this hotel would probably suit short-term visitors rather than long term. The location, incorporated restaurant and good facilities for the disabled are all plus points. Staff were very helpful when we left an article of clothing behind. We sent them a stamped-return package, and it was back with us in two days. You will not get better than that! This is a lodge rather than a full-blown hotel. On this basis I am happy to award four stars. The only real downsides for us were lack of drawers in room and car parking less convenient than we should like.
