The good bits: - Excellent location, a 2 min walk from the main lift in Les Gets, Chavannes, which takes you up to the mountain. Intersport - two of them - within 1/2 min for ski rental too (better deals if you book online than in person). - Our suite, upgraded from a junior suite, was spacious, with a stylish decor, and comfy beds. Great balcony with a nice view to the slopes to the left and the main street to the right. - The overall decor of the hotel is very nice, with nice paintings and artefacts throughout. It's very well done. - The food at Biskatcha restaurant is excellent, very delicious, great flavours, and the staff are very attentive. - The main bar area, the Comfy Bar, is very large and welcoming. - The swimming pool is very large in a nice building. - Spacious ski locker area, with an individual locker for each room, and easy access to the slopes. But for a four-star hotel that charges high prices (over 5k euros for B&B for three of us in the first week of March): - the breakfast is very basic and limited, offering not enough options; regularly, they ran out of hot food and bread. The food area and serving plates were simply far too small for the number of guests squashed into the smaller of the two restaurants in the hotel. - the people at reception and in the restaurant/bar looked unhappy, were not hospitable or accommodating of any requests, and seemed inexperienced. We didn't see the owner, general manager or other leader during our whole stay; we have in most other hotels we've stayed at (apart from large corporate hotels). - there were no complimentary apres-ski refreshments, e.g. coffee, tea, cakes, as we have experienced in every other ski hotel we've stayed in across Europe and the US. - our extra dietary requests (e.g. being vegan, and with a disabled son needing some specific dishes) were not met. We were told that we would have to pay a very high additional amount, which we refused. We've never been asked to pay anything like this whilst staying in other hotels in more than 15 countries over the last ten years. In fact, the hotel would have saved on a lot of other costs (e.g. meat, cheese). We asked to speak with the F&B Director, Bouchara Touis to discuss this but she was ill for 4 days without a deputy; when she returned she made no effort to speak with us and ignored us. - they couldn't fix the telephone in the room within a 9 day period and said the wood stove was not working (and wouldn't be working during the winter season! (which is exactly when you need it)). - the swimming pool is very cold (much colder than municipal swimming baths) and the jacuzzi only lukewarm. Another example of a money-saving measure. Even with the great location and spacious suites, we will not be returning given such poor service. It is a 3 star hotel, maximum, in need of proper leadership and a more welcoming attitude to guests.
