Ferme de Tayac - Charme avec Pool

I spent 3 wonderful nights at Ferme de Tayac in Les Eyzies-de-Tayac as part of a week in Dordogne without a car. Apart from the train, the area is not very well served by public transport, but I was able to plan my stay well in advance thanks to B&B owner Eleonores incredibly helpful guidance by email long before my trip. She kindly provides her guests with extensive info about walks and sights in the area as well as distances to various places, which is a real advantage when you're planning your trip. The B&B is 5-10 min walk from the train station and is also a handy starting point for several amazing walks in lush and beautiful nature (e.g. Le Gorge d'Enfer-loop and The Seven Brothers/Towers-loop). There is so much to see and do within walking distance in the area (I went to see cave paintings in Font de Gaume and a beautiful stalachtite/stalagmite cave, Grotte du Grand Roc). The medieval town of Sarlat-la-Canéda and several other towns and villages are easily reached by train. The property oozes peacefulness with its beautiful garden and saltwater pool. A lovely breakfast with home made yoghurt, bread, croissants, pain au chocolat, eggs, jams, cheeses, juices, coffee, an extensive tea selection, you name it. After long days of walks and activities it was heavenly to cool down in the salt water pool and relax in the sunchairs. A highlight one evening was a home made dinner, table d'hôte, with delicious foods and aperitives (a walnut wine, special for the region). We were also treated to some old gramophone music by owner Cédric and even had an impromptu dance to Elvis, much fun!! Owner Eleonore is such an engaging and warmhearted person, you really feel welcomed and appreciated. Cédric is a real gramophone specialist and also tells interesting stories, e.g. about the origins of the toasting tradition (I never knew it had to do with avoiding poisoning..!) There is SO much to see, do and explore in the area! I'm hoping to join the ranks of the many repeat guests who return to Ferme de Tayac to enjoy Eleonore and Cédric's warm hospitality. I can truly recommend their B&B, you won't be disappointed!

We highly recommend staying at Ferme De Tayac. We were there for 6 nights. Eleonore was an incredible host and went over and above to make our stay the best it could be. We felt very lucky to be in this historic Inn and waking to the bells chiming from the equally historic church next door. Our room was very comfortable with a door to the garden. The inn is extremely clean and well kept and the daily breakfasts were fabulous . Les Eyzies is a very pretty town with many fine restaurants . We’d happily return La Ferme should we visit the Perigord again. Many thanks Eleonore!

Amazing place. A beautifully restored farm house with all the modern luxuries and a great history, resting next to the fortified old church of the town. Everything is beautifully managed and the town is a short walk away with some great restaurants (but make sure to book). We had a great stay and would definitely come back.
