We spent the Easter days at the Poseidon Palace Hotel. It is located at Leptokarya, a few kilometers away from the city of Katerini, about an hour's and a half drive from Thessaloniki. We were on a half board basis. The first thing that a visitor notices are the beautiful grounds, trees and green grass, swimming pools (plural), and playgrounds, all kept in a perfect condition, next to a long beach. All the rooms face the sea, are very specious, with a large bathroom, all kept meticulously clean, just as all the areas at the hotel. The hotel was booked almost at capacity, 614 guests. One would expect that this would create problems, but this was definitely NOT the case. Breakfast and dinner were plentiful in quantity as well as quality. I would compare it with buffet meals on a cruise ship, only much better. Smiles all around by the personnel, immediate solution to any request, the rooms were cleaned almost as soon as we left them, impressive coordination everywhere, things that are usually rare but very important to any visitor. There are small villages in close vicinity, so if one wants to visit rural Greece he is only a few kilometers away from them. The castle of Platamon is very close too, and a visit there is highly recommended. Price wise the hotel is not more expensive than other hotels nearby, but the whole "package" is much better in this hotel compared to others. There is one small problem. The sea next to the hotel is not with golden sand that you may find elsewhere, one has to wear sea shoes in order to go swimming. Do I recommend this hotel? Oh yes, definitely, especially to people travelling with children. You will find that it is a fair exchange of money paid to value offered.
