The Dukes

we booked to stay at this venue on 8th December for one night. It was for a 2 night stay from Find a gift. The room was one of 3 converted stables. The double bed just about fixed in the room with no space to put anything. The fire on the wall looked like it had just been taken out of a skip. Filthy and rusty. Cannot believe that it was safe . When opening the door to the bathroom there was no heating and was colder than outside. The shower tiles had been repainter and chipping off and the state of the room was horrible. When going to speak to the manager she suggested I ran the hot water so it warmed up the room first ! Also told there had never been a complaint 8 years of her being there. This place would not pass a heath and safety inspection. We left and booked into another hotel down the road at 7 pm as we could not stay at the Dukes. I have reported this to Find a gift and they are not interested and have not answered the question as to what was the last date Buy a gift made an inspection of the property . Still waiting for a response 2/1/2025

Lovely clean room (No4). only negative was the bathroom door, it folds, but needs a handle on the inside so user can close it behind them, my husband had to push the door shut and there was a gap all around the door. bedside shelf, very small. Otherwise a comfortable stay, would definitely stay again.

The room was clean and tidy. The bed was so comfy, we really enjoyed our two night stay. The staff were friendly and answered any questions we had. The area is quiet and relaxing, and me & my partner spent most afternoons and evenings as the pub.
