We visited the Devonfield Inn (under a different name and owners) for our first wedding anniversary 38 years ago. We were enchanted then, and even more so now. What a gorgeous bed & breakfast with all the amenities - cozy comfort, warmth and charm - that make these New England Inns so irreplaceable! The Inn itself is situated about a mile away from the quaint town of Lee, which has some good restaurants, including Salmon Run Fish House. The grounds of Devonfield are vast and beautiful, and the rooms are incredibly cozy and super comfortable, and we arrived with a light snow which made it that much more inviting. We can't say enough about the gracious and very present proprietors, Doug and Jim, who greeted us at the cocktail hour they hosted in the beautiful living room with a fireplace, plenty of seating for all and the added perk of a great local pianist who took our requests. The homemade breakfasts were delicious, with a couple of homemade sweet and savory options, all served with a bit of Berkshire history and a lot of good cheer. We visited the galleries and shops in the surrounding towns and also visited the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, which has a magnificent impressionist collection. A great weekend, and we will for sure be back!!
