My husband, our 2-year-old son, and I recently stayed at Druids Glen Hotel for a relaxing two-night getaway. We specifically chose this five-star hotel and paid extra to stay in a suite, expecting a high standard of service and comfort. While the staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, unfortunately, the overall experience was far from what we expected. The food service was extremely slow, and both nights we had to wait over an hour for our meals. When the food finally arrived, my husband's dish was cold, which was a major letdown. We overheard a waiter mentioning that the kitchen was backed up, but this was not communicated to guests in a timely manner. The restaurant seemed to be struggling with its service, and it significantly affected our dining experience. We had also chosen Druids Glen specifically for the spa facilities, as we were hoping to enjoy a relaxing treatment during our stay. However, the spa appointment was unexpectedly canceled on the morning of our visit. We were offered a 20% discount on a future visit, but that was of little use at the time, given that we were already on-site and had planned our visit around the spa. In addition to these issues, the service at the hotel was disappointing. We didn’t want to complain at the time, as we generally avoid doing so, but both my husband and I agreed that this hotel was more of a 4-star experience at best. Unfortunately, the lack of attention to detail and the poor service made it unlikely that we would return. The issues continued after our departure. We realized we had left our USB drive in the back of the TV and contacted the hotel right away. Initially, we were told housekeeping would check, but we never received a callback. After several follow-up calls, we were told the USB had been located and that we should send our postal address to have it mailed back. Days passed, and it still hadn't arrived, so we called again, only to be told the hotel had no knowledge of it. We were promised follow-up calls, but none ever came. The process was frustrating, and while the staff were generally friendly, the customer service was not as helpful or efficient as we would have expected. One of the most frustrating parts was when we were told that someone would phone us back the following day regarding the USB drive, but when we called back the next day, we were told the hotel was closed and that the staff member had no access to the email. This seemed a bit strange, as it was hard to understand why no one would have access to email. As of today, we are still waiting for our USB drive, with no real resolution in sight. The experience has left us disillusioned with the hotel's service, and while we had hoped to enjoy a relaxing and pleasant stay, we were instead met with delays, poor service, and unfulfilled promises.
