You must always book with dinner and do not see it as a regular stay at a B&B. It was a little irritating because the description on the booking portal and the reality did not match. We thought we had booked a separate room with twin beds and an en-suite bathroom, but it was not. They have different rooms, and what we were looking for was already booked, so we were in the so-called Mezzanine. You need to get up on some narrow winding stairs, but Fred helped get your bags up so you could fully concentrate on how to get yourself up. If you are kind of "over-sized" or mobility restricted, do not book the Mezzanine. There was only a typical Frech Double bed on one mattress with one big blanket. The privacy is managed by a curtain, so you should know there is visual privacy, not acoustic. The en-suite bathroom had only a toilet and sink, and the separation was a swinging door like in a Western Saloon! For the shower, you are sharing it with your hosts downstairs, but this is a giant modern one with all functions like massage, etc. The shower is not the only way to get a massage since Fred offers a rub against payment, and after a long day on the road, it was the best way to find the perfect sleep. The following day, I was expecting a "typical French" breakfast, as I learned in my school as a child: a croissant with some butter and jam, and you dip it into a bowl of Milk Coffee. But it was an excellent buffet, incl. an enormous variation of homemade jams. You even had a selection of butter. I only missed a Chef with an egg station compared to the big international hotels. Chapeau 1! Chapeau 2 is for dinner the night before: we were more than happy that we did not go out to eat (although co-host Hervé works in gastronomy and we could have outstanding service and food with him too - but he prepared everything). We made a new experience: we enjoyed the private dinner, and it was not Housewife style but an authentic gourmet restaurant style. Not feeling like "Pretty Woman" in a Shi-Shi-Restaurant where we need to learn which fork is the right one and eat "exotic" food like escargots. But we learned how good dinner could be with ingredients you can get at every supermarket. Finally, it ended up: it was not just a stay in a B&B: it was more like staying with good friends (you were treated like) and having dinner, and they let you sleep in their house that you must not drive home. We were so impressed with this different way of accommodations that we will search in the future for more places like this. For summer 2023, we booked to see Hervé and Fred again, learn more about what they will cook for us, and enjoy their garden, incl. the jacuzzi. And I hope we do this time so early that we can book the suite with is downstairs. Thanks for delivering a new way of travel experience to us. We are passionate cruisers. If Hervé and Fred would offer their service one day on a private yacht: please allow us to be their first guests! Bisous for friends but a handshake t
