Fantastico
DDerrickcdhHotel services, staff was excellent. Location is a little out of the way, we went to the K-26 bus top at Kamikochi after a trip up and they had shuttle buses there to pick us up for a 5 minute drive up to the hotel, so the location is not exactly accessible
Greeted warmly by the staff, introduced us to the meal location and Onsen.
Room was a small, but about what was stated by their website.
Meal was pleasant as well, not everything suited my taste, but i can tell it was cooked with a lot of effort.
Onsen was of decent size, and the water was a lot better than other places i have been, i even quite like the shampoo they used.
Went down to Matsumoto on their provided shuttle service, which is an excellent service. Overall, this Ryokan is an excellent stay for families and couples, priced decently as well.

From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were enveloped by a warm and inviting ambiance that set the tone for the rest of our stay.
Our room was a perfect sanctuary—spacious, meticulously clean, and adorned with subtle touches of Japanese artistry. The panoramic views of the Japanese Alps from our window were nothing short of breathtaking, especially when the mountains were bathed in the soft glow of sunrise. The traditional tatami flooring and comfortable futon bedding provided an authentic experience without sacrificing comfort.
One of the standout features of Shoho is its exceptional onsen facilities. Soaking in the natural hot springs while gazing at the picturesque scenery was incredibly rejuvenating. The rotenburo (outdoor bath) offered a tranquil escape where the stresses of daily life simply melted away. The hotel's attention to detail extended to these spaces, with beautifully crafted woodwork and stone elements enhancing the overall atmosphere.
Culinary delights awaited us at every meal. The kaiseki dinner was a masterpiece—a multi-course feast that highlighted seasonal and local ingredients. Each dish was artfully presented and demonstrated a profound respect for Japanese culinary traditions. The breakfast buffet was equally impressive, offering a wide array of both Japanese and Western options to suit all palates.
The staff at Shoho went above and beyond to ensure our stay was exceptional. Their genuine hospitality was evident in every interaction, from assisting with our luggage to offering insightful recommendations on local attractions. Despite any language barriers, their kindness and professionalism shone through.
The hotel's location is ideal for exploring the rich cultural heritage of Matsumoto. We were just a short drive from the iconic Matsumoto Castle, one of Japan's most beautiful original castles. Strolling through the historic Nakamachi Street with its classic white-walled storehouses turned boutique shops and cafes was a delightful way to spend an afternoon.
In addition to its proximity to cultural sites, Shoho serves as a great base for nature enthusiasts. The nearby Kamikochi Valley offers stunning hiking trails that showcase the unspoiled beauty of the Japanese Alps. Returning to the comfort of the hotel after a day of exploration was something we looked forward to, especially knowing a soothing onsen soak awaited us.
In summary, Shoho encapsulates the essence of Japanese hospitality. Every aspect of our stay was thoughtfully curated to provide comfort, relaxation, and cultural enrichment. We left feeling deeply refreshed and with a greater appreciation for the wonders of Matsumoto. Shoho is more than just a place to stay—it's an experience that lingers long after you've departed. We wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic and luxurious retreat in Japan.

IInstandyFukashiso could be one of the loveliest accommodation that I have ever stayed at. The staff were very polite, attentive and extremely helpful and courteous. The place itself is so beautiful and quaint. Traditional garments are provided as an option if you want to dress up for dinner. Made for great photo ops! The Kaiseki was the most beautiful equivalent of a degustation I’ve tried, and it was served in a lovely separate intimate dining area. During dinner Nobu-San a fourth generation family member of the owners greeted us which was a lovely touch. Soba was freshly made at the accomodation. We stayed two nights and the Kaiseki menu was different each time. Breakfast was a nice assortment of Japanese and Western options and the coffee machine was actually pretty good. I enjoyed the onsens, there are two public ones that switch locations for men and women and a private one. They were well equipped and relaxing. Our room was on Level 1 with a private bathroom, seating area and little garden view. Overall this place is highly recommended. For a traditional ryokan experience, it was so nice. Even after we checked out, the receptionist gave us a little gift, and even walked us outside to where our car was parked. Such a warm and lovely place. Stay here for sure!

Il personale stava aspettando e rispondendo alle domande. Sono rimasto molto colpito. Contatto tramite Trip Molto difficile da contattare. Per fortuna l'hotel ha un canale di chat. L'alloggio è in una zona dove si può trovare cibo fino a tarda notte, ma potrebbe essere necessario camminare un po' e non troppo lontano dal terminal degli autobus. Le camere sono pulite, il sapone liquido è profumato e in alcuni periodi c'è del ramen gratuito volte. Ottimo consiglio

UUtente ospitePiccolo, le strutture sono relativamente vecchie, gli articoli da toeletta devono essere ritirati alla reception, molto vicino alla stazione JR, c'è un'area ristorazione al piano di sotto con molta gente del posto, l'uccello arrosto è delizioso ed è aperto fino a mezzanotte. orologio la sera. Vorrei portare un pezzo di colazione in camera per mangiare, e il personale di servizio mi ha prontamente fornito un pranzo al sacco tradizionale giapponese molto decente. Assicurati di effettuare il check-out in orario alle 11:00, altrimenti dovrai pagare una tariffa per gli straordinari.

UUtente anonimoÈ stato il miglior hotel in cui ho soggiornato per 2 settimane in Giappone. Tutto era semplicemente perfetto! Dalla camera spaziosa ai servizi forniti dall'hotel. Ciò che mi ha lasciato l'impressione migliore è stato il bagno pubblico al piano principale. Dopo una lunga giornata all'aria aperta, il bagno è VERAMENTE rilassante e lava via tutta la fatica. Anche se l'hotel era un po' distante dalla stazione ferroviaria. Ma ehi, indovina cos'era il Castello di Matsumoto a pochi minuti a piedi dall'hotel! Quanto conveniente!! Ci tornerò sicuramente se mi trovo a Matsumoto, adoro questo hotel! :)

EEnjoy AloneLa posizione è ottima, vicina sia agli autobus che ai treni. Viaggiare in auto per andare ovunque è molto comodo. La camera capsula è spaziosa e confortevole per dormire. Tutto il necessario è disponibile, non è difficile da trovare. L'autobus da Shinjuku ferma vicino all'hotel. Tornerò sicuramente a soggiornare qui. Anche il personale è thailandese, gentile e fornisce ottimi consigli.

Rretired traveller to beLa zona di lobby rinnovata, la mancanza di stile ryokan di pulizia essenziale. Questo hotel gestito da cinesi non si sentiva così attento ai dettagli del servizio. La cena kaki era sottopar. Il colazione anche orribile. Posso dire che non servivano salmone fresco, erano molto duri a mordere. La maggior parte dei prodotti sono riscaldati da congelati come suimai e xiao longbao che non mi aspettavo di avere come colazione giapponese. Miso soppa era lo stesso resto dal pranzo. Non credo di restare ancora lì.

The most favourite from this hotel is there’re plenty of facilities – shampoo, conditioner, shower gel from a lot of brands that you can select by yourself at the lobby.

The owners are a really lovely couple; very welcoming and extremely helpful. The rooms are great - plenty of space and all the amenities you need for a short stay. The onsen is just the best - it's a private one that you can lock the door to and have to yourself for as long as you can cope with the hot water!
But the *food* - wow! The food is absolutely fantastic and expertly cooked. Honestly, I've eaten in Michelin starred restaurants with food that wasn't as good as this. On top of that, at our first evening meal, we found that the message hadn't been relayed about my wife being a pescatarian. Anywhere else that might have been a problem, but within twenty-five minutes an entire new fish meal had been prepared and served - and was absolutely amazing. We were SO impressed.
Also, what a truly beautiful location. Oh yes, and they have *monkeys*!! They wandered past the property in the evening and wandered back the next morning.
I'm trying to name anything negative and I honestly can't - the closest thing I can think of is that the property is hard to locate and you definitely need a car to get there, but if you can get there, do - it was one of two equal-best places we've stayed at in Japan.
Thank you to the owners (sorry, I never asked your names) for a wonderful stay in your home.
