Hotel Sonnenhof Lam

I stayed at the Hotel Sonnenhof for three nights with a friend in March 2023. It was our second stay and I wrote a review last year, so just a few observations on things that have or haven’t changed. We had room 101 in the main building this time, which was a little more spacious than the one we had last year. It was more nicely decorated as well. A tea station for the room could have been ordered free of charge, as I found out from the information booklet, which I didn’t read last year. The station might have been available then. The slippers that were provided last year had been exchanged for flip-flops, which we thought was much more convenient. Several new saunas have been added to the spa area as well as an outdoor jacuzzi and other features. Free drinks have also been made available. The sauna area is truly fantastic now! The food was a little better last year, though it was still very good. Dinner again was a four-course sit-down meal on two days plus a salad bar to start with and a cheese buffet for those who could still manage at the end of the meal (I couldn’t). It was buffet style the third evening. The service, too, was still excellent, overall. We did notice that some of the servers in the restaurant were a little out of their depth at times, though, particularly on the Thursday (day of our arrival). We were quite surprised when we were served the soup before the first course and were about to complain to the head waiter when the first course was brought. It was rather funny, actually. The server wanted to place the plates on our table next to the soup but was stopped by the mortified looking head waiter. We also noticed that the people who had ordered the fish weren’t given fish knives on the Thursday. I had the fish on Friday and did get a fish knife, but the regular knife wasn’t removed. In addition, my friend had the pasta instead of the soup and wasn’t given an extra knife and fork instead of the spoon. And one last remark: the cutlery was placed on the table in the wrong order two days in a row. None of this was a big deal, of course, but I expected a little more attention to detail after our fantastic experience last year. Those are just a few minor points of criticism, though. We again had a fantastic time at this exceptional hotel. We will be back!

Rezension Unser Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel war wirklich großartig! Die Hotelanlage hat uns von Anfang an beeindruckt – besonders der riesige und vielfältige Wellnessbereich, der seinesgleichen sucht. Hier kann man wirklich entspannen und sich verwöhnen lassen. Anreise und Check-in: Die Parkplatzsituation war unkompliziert, wobei man beachten sollte, dass die Plätze direkt vor dem Hotel kostenpflichtig sind. Der Check-in verlief reibungslos, und das Personal war freundlich und effizient. Zimmer: Die Zimmer sind gut durchdacht und praktisch eingerichtet – viel Stauraum, saubere Räumlichkeiten und bequeme Betten. Ein kleiner Minuspunkt war die Temperatur bei unserer Ankunft: Es war gefühlt 30 Grad im Zimmer, sodass wir erst einmal kräftig lüften mussten. Positiv zu erwähnen ist die Ausstattung mit Bademantel, Handtüchern und sogar kostenlosen Flip-Flops – ein schönes Detail. Kulinarik: Das Abendessen war ausgesprochen lecker und von hoher Qualität. Allerdings haben die Cocktails ihren Preis, was jedoch bei der Gesamtqualität des Hotels nicht allzu überraschend ist. Was wir als störend empfanden, war die Temperatur in den Räumlichkeiten – es war durchweg recht warm, sodass man auch im Winter eher leichtere Kleidung mitbringen sollte. Wellness: Der Wellnessbereich ist schlichtweg beeindruckend! Es gibt zahlreiche Pools, Saunen und Dampfbäder – ein Paradies für Wellnessliebhaber. Hier bleiben keine Wünsche offen, und man kann problemlos Stunden verbringen. Fazit: Ein tolles Hotel für alle, die Entspannung und Genuss suchen. Es gibt ein paar kleine Kritikpunkte, wie die hohe Temperatur in den Zimmern und öffentlichen Bereichen, aber insgesamt überwiegt die positive Erfahrung bei weitem. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!
