Very nice and friendly guest house on the edge of Ambleside village. Good starting point for hikes in the Lake District. Drying room for shoes and clothes. Books, maps and local event information available. Friendly atmosphere. Very tasty breakfast included.

Very comfortable and friendly welcome. Good choice of breakfast menu. Walking distance to shops and restaurant. Lovely local cinema and Italian restaurant nearby a couple of minutes walk. Short drives out and you're in the iconic Lake's countryside. Recommended.

Our room was nice and comfortable. The staff lovely and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked to order. The house was warm and cosy and we felt relaxed in the evening after our long walks, watching TV or reading in our room. The location is superb and even though our room was on the ground floor next to the main road it was quiet. The only negative was the bathroom was freezing cold and could do with an extractor fan as the walls, ceiling and floor got soaking wet after a shower. However the shower was lovely and hot and the bathroom nice and clean. We would definitely stay in this room/ guesthouse again.

A wonderful weekends stay. The room was bright and clean. The host Rohan was incredibly helpful - nothing was too much trouble. And Jacqueline at breakfast was a delight! Great selection for breakfast, fresh milk available at all times, an ice machine and even a drying room. Most of all, the bed was unbelievably comfortable! Parking was also available which was a huge bonus. We will be back!

Beautiful bnb, stayed here twice now and would stay again, perfect single rooms with a bath also which was great after a long walk. Lovely hosts, warm and welcoming, pleasant breakfast, would strongly recommend and perfect for solo travel.

Perfectly placed in the centre of Ambleside, the view over the park made for a perfect setting for breakfast. Breakfast was good & The room was ideal with space & comfy seating & a good shower in the en-suit. The welcome was warm & staff helpful, and they pointed out unexpected extras like the drying room & ice making machine. We hope to return soon & recommend this place.

We have just had a lovely couple of days in Ambleside at The Gables. This was our second visit, and although it has changed ownership, everything was ideal. Great location, lovely breakfast, and spotlessly clean.will definitely return Thank you

Lovely hosts, nice room, room was freezing when we arrived, there was no heating on in room on both nights. Breakfast was poor, overcooked poached egg and bacon was like cardboard. Couple at next table also had issues with heating, apart from that lovely guesthouse in great location.

What a lovely place to stay. We had a very warm and friendly welcome. It was clean and well taken care. Our room had everything we needed. Very helpful with any queries and requests. Lovely breakfast. Brilliant location just a few minutes walk to the town centre.

Very friendly staff making a very enjoyable stay.We enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra few days.A warm cosy room with a powerful hot shower just what you need after hiking the fells & a great variety for breakfast to start your day. Thankyou Panch & The Gable family we will be back.

Great stay at The Gables for a winter break. Room was clean and comfortable. Pleased to find fresh milk available for tea and coffee - nice touch! Glad they had a drying room available for soggy walking attire. Had to check out earlier than planned due to weather but they were really understanding and made a note for consideration at future bookings. We'll be back!

We chose this guest house for the location, which is in an ideal location to get to amenities. I will start with the positives: Large spacious room Plenty of storage room Good location Drying room is you needed it Negatives. Constant messages and emails before you arrive (too many) Slow breakfast service most mornings Cold rooms which was brought up as did another guest Bathroom very cold.- not ideal for winter and we were not aware of this before our stay.

Staying here currently been here for x 4 weeks with work already and beyond, the gables is absolutely spotlessly clean, everything catered for, Rohan the owner is amazing friendly and will answer any questions you may have with the tapestry on the Lake District and his premises at the gables, staff are incredibly friendly and helpful Lou Lou is also a very knowledgable member of staff and can direct you to all the site, this guesthouse is one of the best in the lakes highly recommend.

Good to back at this great location for Ambleside town centre and easy access to the Lakes. Very comfy room, great breakfast and very friendly staff. Plenty hot water for long showers after a High Dam swim and drying room for our gear. Great fun!
