Hotel Castillo El Collado

We stayed in September and instantly fell in love with the village, the hotel, and the host. Javier made us feel like royalty throughout our entire stay. The castle is absolutely stunning, and the rooms are tasteful and beautiful. The bar and terrace are a delightful bonus, and we simply didn't want to leave! I am looking forward to returning to this hotel. It's a gem.

Depending what you are looking for but it was a great place to stay in Laguardia … the castle is old but well preserved and the room was very roomy. Expect not too have all of the modern facility but this is what makes this hotel unique! Also, our host was Xavier and have looked after us for any needs and information you may need plus he is looking after breakfast in the morning which is a culinary experience ! The only challenge would be parking if you were coming by car as this hotel is part of the old town … brut there are public parking available within walking distance

We have been there for two nights. The first room (no 2) was big and beautiful - perfect for an old castle. The bathroom not up to date but everything clean and ok (we knew before due to the photos). We had very hot weather in August and the air condition was not able to cool the room down - so we did not sleep well. Next morning I told this the host (elderly man at the reception); he apologized and told us that we can change the room. We did this and although the room was smaller we were glad with the working air con and slept like babys. Why am rating with 5 points: the host (owner?) was so incredibly kind and hospitable that we didn‘t feel like being in a hotel rather than being his personal guest in a castle. After checking in he came to our room with two glasses of wine and water - awesome. It was a great experience for us to stay in this place. The location in the village is excellent. Maybe the nicest village in Rioja? Rooms were quiet.

On arrival we were told where we could park for free. Javier rushed out to help with our bags/suitcase. When shown to our room two glasses of wine arrived with nuts served by the owner Javier! The hotel although a castle has few rooms but quaintly old fashioned and in a terrific location. The owner has his restraunt underneath the hotel, food was good and considerably priced. The old medieval town is on the door step and the wine route. When staying in the hotel make the effort to go up the tower. Breakfast, a huge variety of things to eat, fruit, eggs, bread, meat, cheese, juice and T/C. the room was spotless, roomy and good quality linen. A fabulous stay, kind owner/staff. A total joy. Thank you Javier. DEFIANTLY worth more than the miserable 2 stars. My husband and I are well travelled from luxury hotels to bnb!

A two century family owned castle/home that's now a hotel. Owner is the most friendliest person (gave all the wives in our group roses). Rooms are all quirky and different, but with some stunning views of the countryside. Go to the top of the tower to see 360 degree views as well as great sunrise. Below the castle is a bar/restaurant that is staffed by more friendly people

This was such a beautiful and unique hotel. Señor Javier, the innkeeper, was so nice and welcoming. He insisted on carrying my luggage up to the room. He informed me and my boyfriend of wineries to go to that were really nice. The room we had was so spacious and clean. The bed very comfortable. Because of the breeze outside, there was no need to turn on the a/c. Señor Javier and I believe her name was Estefania always brought a glass bottle of water to our room which was nice. The castle hotel had a beautiful view of the town from the castle tower. On the last day of our stay, while we waited for a taxi Señor Javier made us a cup of coffee and it was exquisite.
