Hotel in zona Monument for fallen soldiers, Lagos

We arrived just before 1pm, aware that check-in is from 2pm. The receptionist was friendly and immediately offered to check if there was an apartment ready for us. She checked us in early and explained how to find our way around the hotel. We stayed in a premium one bedroom apartment which was exactly as advertised. The apartment was clean and modern and quite big. There was a TV and air-conditioning in both the living room and the bedroom. The balcony was big with a table and two chairs. The pool area was big with lots of loungers, we never had any problem getting one. Staff frequently checked the pool area to keep it tidy. The pool could be a little cold at first but this wasn't a huge issue. Because there are two large pools, there is plenty of space to have a good swim. You can buy drinks and snacks from the snack bar and take them back to your lounger. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast was from 8am to 10.30am. Breakfast was buffet style with a mixture of continental and cooked options. Every day there were little slices of cake, the chocolate cake was delicious. There was also a nice selection of bread and rolls. The fruit selection was one of the best I've had, including fresh melon, pineapple and kiwi slices as well as fruit salad. I liked the location of the hotel. It's in a quiet area and is only a 10 to 15 minute walk from the old town where there are lots of restaurants. We had a lovely stay and I would happily return.

Grande posizione, a circa 10 minuti a piedi a Lagos Old Town e Lagos Marina. Molte bellissime cibi vicino. Emmanuel dal desk front era molto utile per noi e ci ha mostrato il modo chiaro, consigliato anche alcuni buoni pasticci. Il personale che ha consegnato i nostri kit dentali alla stanza era molto scomodo, anche se.. forse non gli piaceva proprio a noi haha. In realtà si può perdere in questo hotel perché era un lago. Tuttavia le strutture erano così date e vecchie. Il guardaroba della mia stanza era così vecchio che sembrava che andasse a crollare in qualsiasi momento. Anche in quella stanza c’era un strano odore di cloro molto forte e non si scompare nemmeno dopo un giorno. Sigh, ci siamo resi conto che potrebbe essere da giorno in giorno, perché probabilmente l'avevano lavato con biancheria per rimuovere le stenole o qualcosa del genere.. mio marito ha fatto un cazzo e voleva cambiare le camere, ma l'hotel sembrava una casa piena con gruppi di tour da Francia, Regno Unito e altro ancora. La colazione era buona, la stessa cena era servita per le due notti che mi sono fermata. Sarebbe bello se potessero fare qualche lavoro di manutenzione, come ripiccare l'intero edificio. Le porte delle camere dovrebbero essere cambiate anche perché erano così dure da aprire e chiudere - si sentirà gli ospiti chiudendo porte chiuse per chiudere tutto il tempo! Molto strano perché tutte queste improvvisazioni non sono state fatte quando il viaggio non era consentito durante i tempi COVID. L'hotel sarebbe una bellezza assoluta altrimenti.

L'hotel è situato in una strada molto tranquilla nel centro della città. Semplice ma molto pratico. La colazione viene servita in camera (motivo covid) Buona biancheria da letto e wifi funziona bene. Un piccolo balcone decora il tutto. Buon indirizzo per visitare Lagos. Ma attenzione a non fermarvi. Ci sono solo 2 depositi bagagli all'inizio della strada (30m dall'hotel) Ci sono alcuni posti liberi per strada... ma lo spazio è pieno, pieno Il parcheggio sul viale lungo il canale a 600 m dall'hotel costa 12 euro/giorno.

Can't tell you how amazing this hotel is - we go to it every 6 months. I wouldn't go anywhere else now. Im ridiculously fussy and drive myself mad to be honest, I've always had issues with my childs health from he was little so we have always needed to bleach everywhere and travel with Dettol wipes and anti- mite plug ins and goodness what else but I have come to learn that i dont need to do this in this hotel, you could eat your dinner off the floor as we say in Belfast. We took my pops away this time with us because unbelievablyhe has never had a foreign holiday, and he's nearly 70 years old - he was blew away. Food is amazing - My son Jack has ADHD &Autism, and he is extremely fussy about his food, what it looks like, what it feels like, the textures, the colours. It's a nightmare, but he loves the grub at Vila Galé. There's never an issue. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, pool bar, Alá Carté restaurant, ”The Masafina”. There is so much to choose from. My daughter Annie loves the food too, she's usually eats like a mouse but eats like a horse when we stay here, haha. There's nothing better for a parent in my humble opinion, to see your children sitting down to lovely big plates of healthy food from all different continents. There's a spa, 3 different steam rooms, massage rooms, yoga room, a big Gym, jacuzzi, large heated indoor pool, tennis courts, golf course, splash pool Park especially for the children(and big kids ie: adults haha), volleyball pitch, football pitch, table tennis, adventure park, big trampoline (which is really good fun), fruit tree orchards, herb gardens, pool tables, darts tables. There's things I will be leaving out because they weren't as important to us. This hotel works hard for conservation, they grow their own fruit. There's olive trees everywhere all over the hotel grounds too. The grounds that surround the hotel span a couple of miles- it's a beautiful walk. Obviously they have an outdoor pool too, but you see it in the brochures and yes, it really does look that stunning. I should probably mention that the pool bar don't just do ”run of the mill” food- we are all vegetarians so we always get stuck with things that way. They do the most gorgeous veggie wraps, salads, veg burgers etc. The pool bar menu is stunning. The ice cream is Carté Ďor and they have an amazing sugar free range as a family member is a type 1 diabetic, which has led us all not to take sugary drinks. The public toilets are always in immaculate condition, always spotless, shining, soap, toilet roll. No problems there. Rooms are lovely too. Housemaid are amazing and do an amazing job. The restaurant staff are amazing. The hotel staff at reception are great too. I hope this review helps, I highly recommend the Vila Galé Lagos, Preia Meia, Portugal. Its expensive in some peoples opinion but- to me I always believe you get what you pay for and if my children are looked after and happy, that's all I want. I'm 100% happy. We’ve just returned from a week at Tivoli, Alvor, the weather has been amazing, we didn’t see a cloud all week, unfortunately the hotel really didn’t meet our expectations. There are so many areas across the hotel that could be improved, that really would have changed our experience. Firstly the pool areas, there aren’t enough sunbeds for guests. The sunbeds they do have are all pushed together, with no space between you and the next family. Getting a sunbed was also another issue, people were out reserving sunbeds first thing and we saw towels out all day without anyone return. Due to the number of guests in the hotel, on occasions towels had ran out by early afternoon. It’s not something we really expected from a 5* hotel. It’s been mentioned in other reviews, but expect to queue, I understand it’s August, but there clearly weren’t enough staff to cope with the number of guests. We queued for drinks, breakfast, lunch, dinner, booking restaurants, the BBQ…the list goes on. They often ran out of cutlery, glasses and plates. We did really feel for the staff, who were obviously under pressure, but I would say while we came across some lovely friendly staff members, we also encountered lots of staff who were unhelpful and quite rude. The food was average, pretty hit and miss, it did get quite repetitive. The Mexican night was our favourite, but only one chef serving the amount of guests, We did really love the train to Alvor and the beach was amazing. The room was cleaned daily, but was quite small for the 4 of us. For the price we paid for the holiday, we were really disappointed.

I would love to give this place a poor review to put people off going so I could keep it for myself but that would be doing the staff a real disservice. I can't fault this place at all- the place was spotless inside and out and the rooms were well equipped with fridge ,safe and air conditioning and lovely hot showers. The breakfast had something for everyone and changed each day. The staff are the real star of the show though and nothing is too much trouble. We mentioned we were looking for worry beads and the next thing we knew one of the waitresses at breakfast went across the street and brought back a selection for us to choose from and purchase from the shop opposite. Special mention to Ioanna who was so friendly and up for a laugh she really made our holiday. Great Central location but quiet with a lovely small pool and pool area. Can't wait to come back!

Siamo visitatori regolari a Praia da Luz. Questa è la prima volta in questo hotel e siamo stati molto felici del nostro soggiorno. Abbiamo avuto una sala di vista premium sul mare con splendide viste sulla piscina e fuori dal mare. La camera era grande e abbondante di spazio di stoccaggio, il migliore che abbiamo avuto per molto tempo. Frigo funzionava bene, come ha fatto il con aereo. Free safe and pool towels. Comfortable bed. Room cleaned to good standard. Large and fluffy bath towels. Il cassaforte era molto piccolo, ma solo circa riusciva a adattarsi ai nostri iPad. Si chiuse con una chiave a differenza della chiave digitale, e la chiave della stanza era piuttosto timido anche. Non mi piaceva la tenda da doccia plastica. Il colazione era buono. Non una grande selezione, ma sufficiente. I panini e i biscotti erano deliziosi. Grande area di piscina, mai un problema di ottenere un letto solare in qualsiasi momento del giorno. Situazione dell'hotel molto tranquilla e tranquilla, ma è stato un salto forte dai ristoranti, negozi e spiaggia (tenendo presente che siamo nei nostri 70 con le ginocchia cattive), ma non ci avrebbe reso impossibile rimanere lì di nuovo. C'è un fermo fuori dall'hotel, ma fuori stagione gli autobus si fermano molto presto.

This is our third stay at Solar de Mos, although due to Covid and my partner’s ill health we haven’t been back for a while. We missed it. Why is that…well it offers a friendly, relaxing environment, not too far, but far enough away, from the bustle of the town centre. The new wings offer excellent quality rooms which are well kept and very clean. And parking is easy outside in the side street. There is a small bar if one wants a night-cap after a dinner down town and the breakfast offers a selection including some hot items, which is fine in the climate. All of that is good but it wouldn’t make for a happy holiday if the staff weren’t friendly. And that is where Solar de Mos excels. From check-in to check-out everyone was kind and helpful, with nothing being too much trouble, and it’s the main reason we will continue to come here when next in Lagos. I normally never write reviews but felt the need to after my experience. I would not consider this resort 5 stars due to both the room condition, facilities, and service. The rooms were outdated and could definitely use a refresh; the bath and bed linens seemed a bit old and weathered. The drapes had black stains on them. Lots of flies and mosquitoes in the room before we ever opened the balcony door. The bedside lampshade were hanging off the lamp base when we entered and had stains on them. While these things are unimpressive, they are not what left me unhappy about my stay. The main reason for this review is that I was extremely disappointed and shocked by how a specific situation was dealt with. I recommend to avoid the hot tub near the spa. I decided to take a dip in the hot tub near the spa for a few minutes before heading inside for the evening, and within 5 or so minutes of sitting in the hot tub (which was not even hot at all) my new $200 swimsuit was completely ruined by improper chemical levels. Upon realizing my swimsuit was completely discolored, I exited the hot tub and my skin smelled strongly of chemicals/bleach (more so than usual for a hot tub). I went inside to shower and my skin was red and smelled strongly of chemicals, and this chemical smell persisted even after bathing multiple times. I went to notify the front desk of what happened to me, and also showed them the bleached swimsuit. I was hoping they would try improve the situation in the some way or at the very least check on the chemical levels so that I was assured I was not exposed to an unhealthy amount of toxic chemicals. I was told by front desk staff that they would tell their colleagues about the issue and they asked for my room number, but I did not receive any sort of apology nor was asked if there was anything that could be done to make it right. I felt highly neglected and thought maybe someone would follow up with me later on, but it has now been a few days since I left the resort and I have received zero follow up to see if I am physically okay or if there is anything that can be done to improve the situation. Seriously disappointing that the hotel does not care about their facilities damaging guest's property nor about guest wellbeing.
