Patagonia Eco Domes

A lovely getaway very remote, great hiking, incredible food. An added bonus was the transfer that was booked for us from the eco domes to the airport.

We stayed for 3 nights earlier this month. The experience was one of the highlights of our 4 week travel in Argentina. Allan and Pedro both contributed to our experience in that they were both helpful and knowledgeable and so pleasant. Allan in particular seemed to be the go to guy. The domes were very comfortable and the views spectacular. Access to the Fitz Roy trail was on site. Not having internet access I believe was a key to the connections we made while there. The socializing we did with the other guests contributed to our positive experience. The only disappointment was the food. While it was adequate I had expected it to be outstanding. We were there for 3 dinners, two of the nights were beef and while there was always a vegetarian option the variety could have been better. The steak we had one night was over cooked such that we didn’t enjoy. In spite of this I would recommend Patagonia eco domes to anyone who can afford this option while in the area.

Great location, wonderful staff and cool experience. You will remember visiting this place, adds a nice touch to a Patagonia trip. So nice to do a am hike and relax in the afternoon with tea. They give a bagged lunch for hikes during the day. A++++ for service, food, location, and most of all staff. They are all truly wonderful!

We spent three nights here. If you are looking for a break from cities and Wi-Fi, and want to go on some walks this a great place to stay. The staff and in particular Pedro were very helpful and can advise you on walking trails in the area. They had arranged our transfers to and from the town at no extra cost too. The breakfast is continental but also some cooked options are given, they make you a lunch box for the day and every night there is a choice of three course meals with the menu changing each day so every day is a different offering. There is also a bar which is stocked so you can enjoy a drink in the communal area or in your dome. At night the fire in your room is lit when you are at dinner and you have logs to keep it going. You do need to add logs this up from time to time. The bed is very comfortable and it’s very quiet so you should get good nights sleep. The view of the mountain when you wake up is unique. I would recommend a stay here. If you prefer to have all the facilities of a normal hotel and internet this isn’t the place for you. But if you wish to spend quality time with the person or people you are with and go for walks etc it certainly is.

This is a unique experience and probably not for everyone. This is an example of "glamping", somewhere between camping and a traditional hotel. The domes are spacious and each has a view of Mt. Fitz Roy. The bathrooms are basic although they have all the necessities. Heat is provided by a wood stove. The staff gets the stove burning while you are at dinner, but you have to get up in the night and put more logs on the fire to keep it going. The staff are great, friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very good and breakfast had everything you would want. The site is convenient to numerous hike trails. We did the Mirador Glaciar Piedras Blancas hike, which was not hard.

For tis camp, Eco means no Internet. The Suite domes are very nice, the food is excellent, but telling me, that I have to relax and thats why they have no Internet available, that is not Philosophie, that is dictatorship. It is my decision if I want to connect to the world or not. So because of this, it is unfortunately never again!

Staying here is a wonderful and pretty unique experience. The domes are surrounded by beautiful scenery and there is some incredible walking to be done here. It’s very special to wake up in one of the domes (ours had a stunning view of Fitzroy mountain) and the rooms are all clean and comfortable. The cooking here requires a very special mention: given that this hotel is in the middle of nowhere, I can’t think how they manage to produce food of such an excellent quality. The chef here is truly talented. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful stay. One piece of advice: there are no curtains or blinds in the domes, so if you are someone who has trouble sleeping unless it is dark, take an eye mask to sleep in. My husband and I loved waking up to that stunning view and it didn’t prohibit our sleeping but my son found it tricky to stay asleep after about 5.30 am.

Amazing. Outstanding. Unique and magical. We had never experienced anything like this. The domes were beautifully decorated yet still simple and immersed in nature. This place provides you with a sustainable and unique experience of sleeping in a chic dome, watch the rabbits and birds just outside your “wall”, stock a fire, share with other lovely guests, savour gourmet menus looking out at the Fitz Roy. And on top of all of this, I can’t speak highly enough of the customer service at the domes. Both receptionists were incredibly welcoming and they went above and beyond to provide us with an exceptional experience throughout our whole stay.

I rarely take the time to post reviews, but the Eco Domes were so incredible that I feel I must. We spend four nights over Christmas and we were a group of four. First, the setting is more than spectacular. The views of Mt. Fitz Roy constantly change with the ever-changing weather. All so beautiful. The Domes are exactly what you'd expect. Clean, quaint and comfortable...set in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We appreciated the fire at night (ok, so if you like it toasty you may have to add a log during the night), the variety and quality of the food (all out of this world and included a Christmas dinner where the food was cooked in an underground pit) and the bathroom had lots of space and plenty of hot water for a great shower after a long day hiking. On that note, you can hike to Mt. Fitz Roy right from the Eco Domes. We set off at 2 am Christmas morning (stars were so amazing without light pollution) and were rewarded with the most incredible sunrise over Fitz Roy. Mind blowing. And if the natural beauty of this place could not be beat, it was. The staff at the Eco Domes were truly the reason this place is so magical. Pedro, Sophia, Romina and Rebecca made our stay over the top. They were welcoming, engaging and helpful. From the encouraging notes on our lunch bags to the engaging stories they shared to the endless efforts they took to get our bags (airline never did deliver them during our 12 day trip) and make us more comfortable, we are forever grateful. Great people. Yes, it is true the Eco Domes are not a Four Seasons. When the wind blows, you will hear it. When it rains, you will hear it. That's part of the fun and a reason to stay. Come here with a sense of adventure and love for exploring an amazing place and meeting wonderful people and you will leave as we did. Wanting to return as soon as possible.
