Hotel in zona Centro Comercial La Suiza, La Paz

I cannot speak highly enough of the Ritz or its staff. Communications were good in advance as I requested an early check in due to my early flight, and they accommodated this. The arranged for a taxi to collect me from the airport. My room was huge, with massive opening windows (I hate aircon and the feeling of being sealed into a room), there was no aircon in the room but with the windows open I got a lovely breeze. I was at the front, overlooking the road and square, with my windows open, it was very noisy and La Paz is a very full on city, but this did not bother me at all. I would say that if you may want fresh air and you need silence, then maybe request a room not at the front ! An observation is that there was no dish cloths or any linens in the kitchen which I would expect when you have a working kitchen, I did have to give plates a wipe over with a bathroom towel when I washed them. I was able to run a ”tab” of a couple of taxis and also some food and drink from the coffee bar downstairs which I paid in one go as I left, this was helpful too. I cannot praise this hotel highly enough - stay here if you go to La Paz !!

La prima notte ero in un dormitorio di 4 letti e mi svegliai alle 4 di un guardia di sicurezza, mi hanno tirato fuori dal letto e mi hanno fatto mostrare la chiave e la carta degli ospiti, come apparentemente nel loro sistema la stanza dovrebbe essere vuota. Beh, ero nella stanza giusta e mi sono tolta dal letto senza bisogno, apparentemente il ricevitore mi ha registrato nella stanza 307 e mi ha dato le chiavi della stanza 407. Ero molto sgradevole e dopo di ciò ho avuto un terribile sonno. Mi chiedo perché non potevano aspettare fino a dopo per risolvere la questione. Quindi sono andato alla reception per negoziare una sorta di compensazione per la situazione sgradevole che mi hanno portato via, ho suggerito un colazione complimentare (costo circa U$4.50). Ma hanno risposto che non si importavano della situazione e che potevo lamentarmi ovunque volessi. Selina non è un ostello economico, quindi si aspetta che almeno tu sia curata bene, che non è stato il caso. Prima che questo accada, gli darei facilmente cinque stelle, perché è comodo, sicuro, pulito, ma il modo in cui mi trattavano non era giusto, mi trattavano come se facessi qualcosa di sbagliato, quando in realtà era il loro errore. La seconda notte, la camera privata profumava sigaretta, e io ho anche detto alla ricezione, ma non c'era nulla; c'erano alcuni piatti da un ospite precedente alla porta, e si sono fermati lì fino a che non mi sono accorto. Durante il check-out ho dovuto chiedere il rimborso del deposito chiave 35bs che mi hanno prelevato al check-in, ma hanno detto che non era registrato nel sistema (un altro errore di ”sistema”), quindi ho dovuto insistere che ho pagato, molto incomoda situazione ancora una volta. Selina La Paz sembra dover migliorare la sua gestione, e la situazione nel suo complesso mi farà pensare di rimanere in un'altra Selina due volte.

Questo hotel è eccellente, proprio al di fuori del centro principale di La Paz. Le camere sono di ottima qualità, con una grande camera principale e bagno. L'hotel ha ospitato la mia prima arrivata a La Paz e mi ha permesso di controllare la mia stanza alle 8:00 a un prezzo ragionevole. Il colazione è stato diverso dal contenuto, ma sempre di buon livello, con una vista spettacolare di La Paz dal principale ristorante del 8° piano. Il servizio lavanderia che l'hotel offre è stato utile anche dopo 2 settimane di viaggio! L'unica cosa che avrebbe potuto essere utile è la struttura per il tè/caffeina e forse un frigo nella stanza, ma tali servizi sono forniti dalla ricezione principale.

We arrived at La Paz airport at 3 am local time so it was a great relief to reach the Hotel Europa about an hour after landing and to be immediately allocated a room. We managed to get up for breakfast around 8 which was a substantial buffet, well organised and managed. The hotel is 5 star by local standards, centrally situated just off the main road through the city and indeed the major road to and from the airport. Very convenient and a short walk in one direction takes you to the main square of the city and the Witches Market and in the opposite direction to Sopocachi with many bars and restaurants. The hotel was relatively quiet and, like many businesses, still recovering from the Covid lockdowns and disruption. So the spa and pool service were not operating and nor was one of the restaurants. The main restaurant, the Bistro, lacked character and atmosphere perhaps but was perfectly adequate and inexpensive. Staff at reception were always helpful and it was possible to change money there or access ATM's across the city. We found it difficult to locate good quality restaurants but could recommend the Pasona Hotel and we found a charming backpacker hotel called HowMe/Selina on Ave 20 Octubre. Very satisfying food and very inexpensive. All in all a very convenient and comfortable location. Visitors should definitely take a ride in the cable car system that surrounds La Paz. Thrilling and with great views.

Hotel ben situato ma molto male . Ci sono scale per andare dalla strada alla reception e poi più scale per scendere agli ascensori. Molto ingordo per una persona con valigie pesanti o per disabili. Decorazione passata di moda e vecchia . Questo hotel ha bisogno di una rimodellazione completa . Personale gentile , fanno tutto quello che possono , ma in generale l'hotel è una grande delusione .

It is not the easiest task to choose a hotel on the other side of the world from your cozy surroundings back home. Of course you check Tripadvisor and a few other sites before finally making your decision. But still, you never know. If you by chance are going to La Paz in Bolivia, trust me on this: Stay at Hotel Sagarnaga. You will not be disappointed. Good prices, really nice staff, clean comfortable rooms and perfectly situated in the city. Most staff speak really good English and they understand service. Breakfast is simple but good enough for you to make it until lunch. Also, should you have any desires to climb a mountain, ride a bike, go on a bustour to Lake Titicaca etc you have several agencies of which Jiwaki would be one I would recommend just 10-50 meters from the hotel. And yes, La Paz is situated at 3700 masl and you might, no, you should be very careful upon arrival and give it at least 48 hrs of rest before you attempt any kind of activity. Hence Hotel Sagarnaga: Within 60 seconds distance you have ATM´s, Money exchange, Good restaurants, small stores to buy your water to have in the hotel room while you rest and try to get oxygen into your lungs. In other words, Hotel Sagarnaga offers you a perfect infrastructure to get comfortable and catch your breath.

This is a funky hotel well located amid the main tourist attractions of La Paz, with easy walks to the witches market, the nearest cable car station, the main square, San Francisco Plaza, Jaen Street with its museums, etc. The breakfast was good, with your choice of a hot egg dish plus fresh fruit and various breads. Our only complaint was our room was an interior room, looking out onto the hallway and lacked fresh air. but this was minor, unavoidable given the design, and not all rooms had this problem.

Un personale molto amichevole, soprattutto Roger, che era un vero sudore. Ci ha dato istruzioni su come combattere l'altitudine. C'erano sempre acqua, tè e caffè per aiutarci. La colazione è stata servita all'opuscolo dell'hotel sul 8° piano con una vista sorprendente di La Paz 😍. L'hotel non ha avuto il proprio servizio di lavanderia, ma c'erano alcune in zona. Abbiamo anche potuto aggiungere spontaneamente due notti. La stanza stessa era buona, ma un po' di sfida, quindi abbiamo avuto un sacco di bagagli :) Non c'era una finestra all'esterno, c'era un odore di tanto in tanto, ma per noi era una questione di minore importanza e non così male. La stanza era molto pulita e confortevole. Il bagno è stato portato in bagno con un bagno molto caldo, a volte un po' di acqua, e siamo riusciti a lasciare il bagno al check-out senza problemi, e il taxi è stato organizzato per noi la sera.

Raramente, se mai, incontrate persone così notevoli nelle città in via di sviluppo. La Paz è un luogo in evoluzione e caotico con una grande varietà di indulgenze, e è sempre difficile trovare da qualche parte, pulito e accogliente - ma ricco e quintessentemente locale Il personale qui a Rosario non può fare abbastanza per voi. Ho viaggiato in 9 paesi sudamericani che salgono sulle montagne, e qui a La Paz è un vero gemello di viaggiatori di montagna. Vorrei in particolare prendere il più grande ospite del colazione, l'estraordinario Geronimo, un uomo che ha decenni di esperienza, un uomo che semplicemente non può fare abbastanza per i suoi ospiti. Normalmente troverete Geronimo in un hotel 5 Star London. E' davvero buono, non è meglio. E grazie anche al desk Eber, sempre attento quando mi sono alzato alle 4:00 per lavorare, bere caffè prima di andare alle montagne. Grazie, siete davvero meravigliosi.
