Tabacon was the highlight of our Costa Rica trip. The hot springs were gorgeous, the landscaping presine, the staff incredibly well-trained, and the rooms spotless. Where else can you sit in a pristine 100 degree waterfall? We ended up changing our busy itinerary and spent about 3x more time at Tabacon that we planned. We joke that when we go back we'll just spend the whole week at Tabacon. Breakfast was great although it was quite busy in the morning and there was a line for their made-to-order omelets. Other than that it was a perfect stay at Tabacon.

We were aware the Selina was a hostel on booking so opted for a suite room with a private bathroom. We’re seasoned travellers and have realistic expectations of ‘you get what you pay for’. It also has a pool which at the time of booking swayed the decision. We thought the comparatively high cost indicated a high quality accommodation with a more laid back and boho vibe than a standard hotel. Positives… Great location, central to La Fortuna and many excellent eateries. Less than 10 dollars in an Uber to most of the local attractions in the area. Good facilities in the room - arty decor, fridge, coffee machine, mirrors, 65 inch TV with Netflix, large bed, nice toiletries, good WiFi and a powerful shower. The not so great… The whole place didn’t feel as clean as it should be and a little shabby for the cost which was very expensive relative to the other accommodation in the area. No outlook at all with grubby fly screens and old rusty caged windows; located next to a building site. Nowhere to hang clothes and just little inconveniences like the bedside lights switches located at the opposite end of the room. The awful… Noise - when the air conditioning wasn’t rattling like mad, it was the industrial sized washing machines in the laundry below from the early hours that felt like a plane was continually taking off under our room. After three nights, we left exhausted and ready for a quieter space. Looking at reviews, mechanical noise seems to be a regular issue. For a hostel, I would just have put up and shut up but after paying a premium hotel price, the noise was not acceptable. We’ve also got loads of random small charges on our invoice for coworking and well-being which I queried and received no response. It all looks great on the website and the funky branding lures you in but the reality is, we got ****** in by clever photos and copy - there is a gap between what they promise and what you get for the cost. I think they need to maybe stay in their lane and focus on delivering a great hostel experience rather than trying to dress up overpriced and mediocre rooms as a hotel offer at hotel prices. We’ve stayed in four other places to date and the Selina by far offered the least value for money (and we got a ‘deal’ at £115 per night without breakfast). We were excited to stay somewhere a little different - and left tired, disappointed and a little ripped off. Unfortunately we fell for the slick marketing.

Mi piaceva questo hotel dove siamo rimasti come famiglia per sette giorni. Le viste sono bellissime (foto del sito web non fa giustizia) e tutto è così facile a causa dell'aiuto eccezionale del personale dell'hotel che si occuperà di tutto ciò che potrebbe essere necessario. Le visite organizzate in collaborazione con questo hotel sono straordinarie e abbiamo fatto quasi tutti. La bellezza del luogo e le camere (vita e servizio) sono stati eccellenti. Per testimoniare ulteriormente, quando sono partito, sembra che mi sia dimenticato il portatile, e prima di capire questo e di cadere in panico, il personale dell'hotel mi ha contattato attraverso l'app che mi ha fatto per organizzare per trasmettere a me l'hotel a San Jose noi Sarei rimasto la notte prima di prendere il nostro volo di nuovo in Canada. Grazie Jocy per avermi salvato! Sarei stato perso senza il mio laptop e tu e tutto il personale erano davvero eccezionali. Questo posto è spettacolare. Non perderlo.

Questo è il nostro hotel preferito per tutta la nostra gita. La camera 33 deve essere la migliore in tutto il resort. Amiamo gli animali e gli uccelli fuori dalla nostra camera insieme alla grande vista del vulcano, per non parlare del massiccio tubo caldo che è molto privato. I letti e due docce erano fantastici. Ogni dipendente con cui abbiamo interagito era così gentile, amichevole e utile. Il cibo sul sito era eccellente. I pozzi tardi nelle calde primavera erano un grande fine per ogni giorno. Non ho smesso di pensare a questo posto da quando sono a casa.

We were aware the Selina was a hostel on booking so opted for a suite room with a private bathroom. We’re seasoned travellers and have realistic expectations of ‘you get what you pay for’. It also has a pool which at the time of booking swayed the decision. We thought the comparatively high cost indicated a high quality accommodation with a more laid back and boho vibe than a standard hotel. Positives… Great location, central to La Fortuna and many excellent eateries. Less than 10 dollars in an Uber to most of the local attractions in the area. Good facilities in the room - arty decor, fridge, coffee machine, mirrors, 65 inch TV with Netflix, large bed, nice toiletries, good WiFi and a powerful shower. The not so great… The whole place didn’t feel as clean as it should be and a little shabby for the cost which was very expensive relative to the other accommodation in the area. No outlook at all with grubby fly screens and old rusty caged windows; located next to a building site. Nowhere to hang clothes and just little inconveniences like the bedside lights switches located at the opposite end of the room. The awful… Noise - when the air conditioning wasn’t rattling like mad, it was the industrial sized washing machines in the laundry below from the early hours that felt like a plane was continually taking off under our room. After three nights, we left exhausted and ready for a quieter space. Looking at reviews, mechanical noise seems to be a regular issue. For a hostel, I would just have put up and shut up but after paying a premium hotel price, the noise was not acceptable. We’ve also got loads of random small charges on our invoice for coworking and well-being which I queried and received no response. It all looks great on the website and the funky branding lures you in but the reality is, we got ****** in by clever photos and copy - there is a gap between what they promise and what you get for the cost. I think they need to maybe stay in their lane and focus on delivering a great hostel experience rather than trying to dress up overpriced and mediocre rooms as a hotel offer at hotel prices. We’ve stayed in four other places to date and the Selina by far offered the least value for money (and we got a ‘deal’ at £115 per night without breakfast). We were excited to stay somewhere a little different - and left tired, disappointed and a little ripped off. Unfortunately we fell for the slick marketing.

Amazing amazing amazing! I want to go back already! Hot springs were amazing, I love the option of having at least one of the hot springs open 24/7, they change it each night for cleaning purposes, they’re very strict on the towels, each one is literally accounted for otherwise there is a fee per towel, no big deal as long as you keep track, didn’t really need to carry a towel around anyway, the only downside I’d have to say was the Italian restaurant was much better then the buffet option, also the slides are pretty intense, I actually hurt my foot on one of them, but it didn’t stop the fun. Wish I were back there!

Questo è il nostro hotel preferito per tutta la nostra gita. La camera 33 deve essere la migliore in tutto il resort. Amiamo gli animali e gli uccelli fuori dalla nostra camera insieme alla grande vista del vulcano, per non parlare del massiccio tubo caldo che è molto privato. I letti e due docce erano fantastici. Ogni dipendente con cui abbiamo interagito era così gentile, amichevole e utile. Il cibo sul sito era eccellente. I pozzi tardi nelle calde primavera erano un grande fine per ogni giorno. Non ho smesso di pensare a questo posto da quando sono a casa.

Il Royal Corin è un hotel a 5 stelle. Il servizio è eccellente! Da quando siamo usciti dal nostro veicolo abbiamo trattato come se fossimo gli unici ospiti che rimangono sulla proprietà. Tutti i membri del personale sono andati sopra e oltre a prendersi cura di tutte le nostre esigenze il servizio dettagliato è eccellente e che comprende Bell Boy, Front Counter, Restaurant Wait, Pool Bartenders, ci hanno sempre rivolto con i nostri nomi, sono sempre rimasti Professionale e amichevole, ma non compromettendo mai il loro servizio dettagliato. Devo ricordare che la diffusione del Daily Breakfast è stata la migliore che abbia mai avuto. La selezione dei succhi freschi sgusciati erano deliziosi. Saremo sicuramente di nuovo in questa fantastica proprietà e il prossimo posto dove le nostre vacanze avranno scarpe molto grandi da riempire. 💜💜💜

It all looks great on the website and the funky branding lures you in but the reality is, we got ****** in by clever photos and copy - there is a gap between what they promise and what you get for the cost. I think they need to maybe stay in their lane and focus on delivering a great hostel experience rather than trying to dress up overpriced and mediocre rooms as a hotel offer at hotel prices. We’ve stayed in four other places to date and the Selina by far offered the least value for money (and we got a ‘deal’ at £115 per night without breakfast). We were excited to stay somewhere a little different - and left tired, disappointed and a little ripped off. Unfortunately we fell for the slick marketing.

Amazing amazing amazing! I want to go back already! Hot springs were amazing, I love the option of having at least one of the hot springs open 24/7, they change it each night for cleaning purposes, they’re very strict on the towels, each one is literally accounted for otherwise there is a fee per towel, no big deal as long as you keep track, didn’t really need to carry a towel around anyway, the only downside I’d have to say was the Italian restaurant was much better then the buffet option, also the slides are pretty intense, I actually hurt my foot on one of them, but it didn’t stop the fun. Wish I were back there!

Siamo stati a soli una notte all'hotel e sono stati impressionati dai lussuosi terreni, dalle bellissime piscine e dalle splendide viste del Volcano Arenal. Il bungalow era ben designato, rustico, con giardini bellissimi intorno a lui, con un grande spazio con un sacco di magazzinaggio, una piccola tavola, un'area seduttiva, un grande bagno e una piccola cucina con frigorifero, microonde e caffè. E il prezzo - WOW! I terreni erano pieni di piante tropicali e abbiamo visto molti uccelli e sono stati visitati da ummingbirds sul nostro porch. Il retro della proprietà ha un grande pascolo con grandi viste sul vulcano. Abbiamo camminato lì all'inizio della mattina per prendere intorno - vista sul vulcano, parrocchie, scimmie - perfetto. Colazione è stata un tipico HUGE colazione, un modo per iniziare il giorno. Per il prezzo, questa posizione è fantastica! È un po' fuori città e si potrebbe avere bisogno di un'auto o di un taxi. Ci siamo mangiati a Jalapas, abbiamo goduto un giorno di passaggio a The Springs, abbiamo fatto il Don Juan Coffee & Chocolate Tour e il Sloth Walk a Bogarin Trail. Tutti eccellenti! Abbiamo avuto un bungalow #38, che era tranquillo e si trovava lontano dalle piscine. La prossima volta, avrei scelto un bungalow più indietro dalla voce principale quando sentite un rumore stradale (principalmente grandi camion che si rivolgono). Per coloro che hanno un bilancio ancora più piccolo, le camere 13 e 19, negli edifici dietro la proprietà hanno una vista stunning del vulcano.

Stato qui per due notti su un viaggio di Esodus. L'hotel è vicino al centro della città (facile da camminare per bar e ristoranti) ma in una zona tranquilla. Il personale era carino e il puliziatore pone il tovagliolo in forme creative (vedi foto) Le camere sono pulite ma molto basilari, non c'è Wi-Fi a meno che non siedi in reception e non c'è bar all'hotel (ma molti entro 10 minuti a piedi). Ogni camera è in una cabina individuale con una veranda, giacitta intorno a bellissimi giardini tropicali pieni di fiori esotici e uccelli colorati. Ci è una piccola piscina non riscaldata. Ogni mattina ci si nutri degli uccelli al colazione, quindi è un paradiso per gli uccelli. La colazione è buona. Non vorrei trascorrere più di due notti qui, poiché l'interno della stanza è di legno pannello e buio (sono grandi finestre ma non danno privacy, quindi la vostra scelta è di tenere le tende attratte o seduto in una bolla d'oro) e il piombo un po' temperamentale, Ma per una coppia di notti in tour, era una buona scelta. Ci è un aereo, ma non ho dovuto usarlo.

My tour operator booked me at Magic Mountain for the weekend on the last part of my trip after I came from Monteverde by ferry in Lake Arenal. The receptionists for all the days were great to me and helpful. My room was taken care of each day. A fridge was available to keep my drinks cold. The room had air conditioning when you need to turn it on. The bathroom had what I needed in fresh towels and a hair dryer, but my one criticism which I already let the receptionist know on my last day is that there needs to be a soap/shampoo/conditioner rack or holder in the shower as the only place to put these items is either on the floor or in a window ledge above you which is not ideal. The balcony view of the back of the hotel was really something when you can see Arenal Volcano in the background on clear days. The swimming pool area (with a bar right beside it) and hot tubs were nice to relax if you were not going out and wanted to hang around the hotel. Their restaurant is a nice place to eat if you did not want to go out, but at least the breakfast choices and service such as asking for a chef to make custom omelettes were very good. I think that sums up what I remember since a week ago. I can say overall I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
