Les Jardins de l'Anjou - Domaine hôtelier et restaurant

After riding some 7 hours in the blistering heat we arrived in good time (5pm). Immediatley after swiping my credit card i was told the restaurant was full and there was no food. Periodically checking the restaurant it was 20% full at best. By 7pm i was pleading for food and water, the receptionist told us to walk into town, we did, everything was shut, and had been since 4pm. By 8pm we were offered a bowl of mash potato and a cherry tarte, needless to say we declined and enjoyed a half bag of peanuts for our evening meal. To the accomodation - our supposed bungalow was a small breeze block, damp, filthy squaller. I have no idea how these pictures have been allowed on trip advisor, or where the hell the reviews have come from - i can only guess from dummy accounts. The pictures suggest lovely well presented dwellings and the writeup an idillic countryside setting, no, its the french equivallent of a butlins overan with children and school groups (fine if you like that sort of thing). Never ever have i written a review like this - for any uk travellers AVOID, you will be left starving, living in squaller, with only the sound of your own regrets to comfort you in some sadistic way.

La soirée du réveillon a été remarquable. Un acceuil chaleureux, des tables sombres et magnifiques, un repas savoureux et un orchestre dynamique, entraînant avec tous les genres de danse. Le personnel des jardins de l'Anjou a été au top, serviable, élégant et professionnel

Nous avons découvert le domaine lors d un mariage ; Personnel très accueillant, disponible, réactif. Les chambres sont agréables, bonne literie, sdb très propre. Quant au repas, c est exceptionnel, gastro, jolie présentation ; ns en avions plein les papilles. Félicitations au cuisinier. Je recommande fortement ce domaine. A renouveler
