Red Palm Village

We love our little cabins with a front porch, fine glamping totally works for us. It is so charming waking to the Troupials serenading us in the morning, and visits from Hummingbirds and Bananaquits. And the Iguanas I find mesmerizing. Grateful to do laps in the morning to offset all the outrageous food we are eating at Lekker Thuis with Chef Corjan. I, for one, love the laidback lifestyle. I could get used to this.

We were there with our family on Sunday brunch from 11am to 4pm. A top class 4 course dinner with ample space in between to swim/ enjoy the sun or have a drink. In short, an insane experience with special compliments to the chef and service. Highly recommended!

An oasis in the south. Red Palm provides an upscale, welcoming retreat for everyone. It's a great community vibe relaxing around the magna pool with guests and hosts, both! Everyone makes you feel right at home. From beginning to end, Chef Corjan and his family and the manager Jaqui, have it all covered. Do not miss the lazy Sunday brunch or 5 star food!!

Stay at Red Palm is amazing. You stay in a lay back mini jungle with flowering trees with a big ranch of different birds. Cosy studios with a big terrace and all the equipment you need. The big fan I love the most. But the dinner experience you get made by Corjan is unforgettable. I never had so many tastes at each vegetarian dish at once! and we had 4 of them. Lucky me. It was my birthday and we had a private dining in an amazing environment Red Palm. You can’t go to Bonaire without meeting Corjan and Jacqueline and meet their love and hospitality. This place would have a place in our hearts normally. You are really made to feel like a guest, not just a paying visitor. It’s got a totally relaxed vibe, shady cool pool, and a collection of villas with fans and A/C. It’s set up to be eco/low-impact so don’t expect a Marriott. But run from anything like that to here. Oh, and the food is excellent. Why did I say normally? Well let’s just say that in extraordinary situations they (thanks D.) went above and beyond anything you’d expect if a guest has a medical issue and were quite literally life saving.

My wife and I have visited Bonaire for six one-week trips over the years, and we love to go out to nice restaurants for dinner. Before our January 2023 trip, I was browsing Tripadvisor restaurant ratings and I spotted the Red Palm Village. It’s only maybe 10 minutes from Kralendijk, but it’s on the lightly travelled road to Lac Bay/Sorobon, and we’d never noticed it. But oh my goodness, it was good! The format is a three or four course “surprise” menu, where you choose only from a fish, meat or veggie preference. On our visit, we specified fish. The first course was a wonderful lionfish dish. (Lionfish is an aggressive invasive species that threatens the local habitat, so do your part and do yourself a favor by eating this delicious mild whitefish!) The second course (the difference between the 3 and 4 course options) was a nice spinach soup. The third course was a terrific tuna, and the last course was an excellent dessert. The Red Palm Village is a low-key resort, and the restaurant is only open for public dining (we think) on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Seating limited, and reservations are compulsory. The tables are across from a beautiful swimming pool, bathed in blue light and backed by a large fountain wall. Very elegant. This is a very special and very different treat.

Had dinner Saturday evening, Mar 12 with friends ... another great dinner. CorJan cooked up a delicious 3-course meal ... a sample of really tasty corn soup was followed by a mouth-watering seafood combo in cream sauce for the first course, superbly cooked mahi mahi for the second course and an amazing chocolate mousse for dessert, all complemented with a nice Cabernet, after dinner ruby port, single malt scotch for the guys, Irish coffees for the ladies !! Reasonably priced ... exceptional eating in a relaxed, quiet setting !!

We had an excellent 4 course dinner, prepared by chef Corjan. It was a surprise dinner that started with fresh smoked wahoo (a local fish) combined with shrimps and a noodle salad. The second course was a cheddar soup with a bitesize hamburger, also very delicious. The main was seared wahoo with vegetables and a bell pepper sauce. For dessert a combination of pina colada mousse and chocolate mousse. Everything was prepared with care and eye for detail. You can see the chef make the food in his open kitchen. It was a great evening! We'll definitely be back!

The kitchen is great ! Chef is artist ! Rooms are not what you expect ! It is kind of a more Camping than hotel . There are no screens on shutters , so you have to sleep under mosquito net . Also sense there are no window glass , all of the outside noises + cigarette smoke from you neighbours will wake you up all hours of the morning , night & when ever they feel like having cigarettes in other end of the shares porch ! So our bedroom was filled more often with cigarette smoke than none ! After two days of it I have been coughing daily ! Horrible planning putting none- smokers and smokers to share the same porch ! Not mentioning sense young lady & her boyfriend live there , their porch end is always filled with dirty dishes , trash etc ?! Not what you would expect out of resort type of place ! Your part kitchen is outside , behind the shelf are your neighbours ! Bedroom is too small to have night stands. Toilet is visible from bed , so good luck with any privacy !
