So I always try and be balanced when leaving reviews, especially as I have my own Independent Travel Agency and I travel often for work. I travelled to Montenegro for a long weekend for my Birthday. Positives: - Hotel is in the heart of the old city walls which is quaint and lovely to stroll around. It is close to everything you need and you can’t complain about the stunning location. Kotor is lovely, but one night in the city is more than enough. - Check in staff were lovely and I was able to check in a hour early. - The room was huge, we paid for the Luxury Suite as a birthday treat, it was period decorated to match the vibe of the hotel but still felt modern. The room itself was pretty with the brickwork and old walls. The view from it was also not too bad, though did lack a little table and chair on the balcony (even though it is just about big enough. It would have been nice for morning coffee. The bathroom had a huge bathtub which was nice, band the room had all the typical amenities you would expect. Negatives: - The hotel is pretty quiet with the windows closed despite being only 2 floors high from the hustle and bustle - Our room was next to a loud bar which does keep going until the small hours, we were lucky that our room as L shapes and the bed was round the other side so made it quite faint, with ear plugs in I couldn’t then hear anything, though pretty poor considering the price point. - The bed was EXTREMELY firm and the pillows lumpy, I do like a firm bed, but that was even too firm for me. It also creaked every time you moved which was loud in the night. - The bizarrely no overhead shower, not even over the huge bath (though it did have a shower head you can pull from the bath and use by hand), it was faff to shower, oddly it also had a creepy window with no blind that if someone was near the bed, then they are seeing you in your glory. Whilst I am close to my partner, we don’t share toilet time, it was a bit off putting. - Oddly the minibar is cash, so don’t get caught out. - I found the price point a little steep, €250 is a lot for an average room, noisy location at night and not a good night sleep, you are only paying for the location. - When you pass through reception to go to your room, you walk past the kitchen staff all sat out smoking etc. pretty grim as a non-smoker but also not what you expect from a 4* hotel, put a nice screen up or something and let the staff break in peace. In summary, the hotel is 3* average, it was pleasant enough but about €100 a night over priced for the quality of the room and experience, location is what you are paying for, which is lovely. I wouldn’t stay here again, I am glad we only stayed for 1 night.
