Bollard Bay House

Lovely guesthouse overlooking the water on Leisure Island. Mike was very welcoming and extremely helpful to make sure we made the best use of our short time in Knysna. Lovely suite, safe and secure with fabulous breakfast. Thanks to Beverley from Unspoilt Africa for finding this little gem!

We had a fantastic 2 night stay. The location is superb - looking out over the bay and well placed for exploring the local area for hikes and beaches. The room and sitting areas are spacious and light and the swimming pool and loungers on the deck are lovely. The breakfasts set you up for the rest of the day - delicious variety. Mike is a excellent host - very friendly ,gave us lots of information about the area, nothing was too much trouble.

My partner and I stayed here for three nights along our garden route trip and I have to say it was by far, the best guesthouse we stayed at! The absolutely gorgeous views across Knysna Lagoon, the spacious, bright, clean room, the great breakfast and the welcoming, kind advice of Mike, the owner of the guesthouse were all top notch. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

Thank you to Mike and staff for your hospitality . The position of the Guest House is priceless. Leisure Isle is quiet with beautiful well maintained and beautiful homes. Access to the beach means simply crossing one road. The Guest House and rooms are spotless, comfortable well appointed. Guests have access to the entire property so we truly felt at home. Mike is hands on and extremely helpful and attentive. The love staff are friendly and willing to help in anyway. Thank you for the lovely breakfasts.Highly recommend.

Beautiful position on Bollard Beach.Stunning guesthouse with TWO pools which is amazing if the wind is blowing.Rooms wonderfully decorated and everything top notch.Great breakfast as well.Very relaxing and fantastic views

What an amazing property, with tastefully done room and a stunning view to go with it. It was a pleasure meeting and interacting with our lovely host Mike who regaled us with his stories and took care of us always with a smile . The breakfast was delicious. I would love to come back again and stay with such a lovely host.

Wonderful insightful host. Greeted us with a smile, showed us to our room, which quite literally had magical views. The host was also very wonderful with suggestions about things we can do. We took the room with a view, big bed with plenty of pillows of various hardness, so yes I had very comfortable night.

Wow, just wow.....our stay for 5 nights here was literally perfect! Mike is a fabulous host, a spacious room with views over the lagoon and lovely pool and garden areas. Breakfast is copious with fresh fruit and a wide range of cooked options. The honesty bar is a plus to enjoy a sundowner with gorgeous views. Will definitely return to this gem.

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay so have booked to return for longer next year! This probably tells you all you need to know (!) ... but to make the review more helpful ... We were given a genuine and warm welcome by Sarah and Mike on our arrival and an efficient short guide of the amenities, which was helpful! There is an Honesty Bar, which is a thoughtful offering, so if you fancy a cool G&T or a Beer after a long drive you can help yourself! The rooms are lovely and spacious and the bathroom + shower (Heron Suite) is perfect, with beautiful, peaceful and tranquil views across the Lagoon. Two rooms at this property enjoy views across the lovely pool and rear garden, and the majority enjoy views across the second pool and the Lagoon to the front of the very peaceful and safe Leisure Isle. The breakfast is delicious and well managed by Cynthia and Team and we'd like to thank her for making sure we had everything we needed. Mike and Sarah were very helpful with suggestions for local restaurants for evening dinner, we tried Nonnu's which was lovely (great food, service and ambience!). There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy on and around Leisure Isle, with a Golf Driving Range just down the road, and the option to hire Kayaks nearby if you prefer to get out on the water! Our Hosts could not have been more friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed their company and were sad to leave ... so we re-booked for 2024 before departing :-) If you choose Bollards Bay you will not be disappointed! This is a very well run Boutique Hotel and Sarah & Mike have thought of everything to make your stay as perfect as possible. This was a highlight on our Garden Route Road Trip!
