First to mention is the host Mattias, who whose personal customer service is the best I have ever experienced. The staff is fantastic and professional. The view from the bed/balcony over the lagoon is beautiful. The rooms are specious and modern with all accessories you need to be happy customer. The breakfast is great and the surrounding tranquil Highly recommend !!!

This is one of the best and most professionally managed B&B’s I have ever stayed in. It should actually be a 6 star hotel. Matthias and his team are welcoming, efficient and friendly. The rooms are modern and well appointed, and very clean. It is only a 5 minute drive to the famous ‘The Heads’ viewpoint. The breakfast is amazing, as the pictures hopefully show. Even the Wi-Fi works perfectly! Highly recommended.

It was a real surprise. Everything so cute, nice, perfect! So clean and well decorated. But above all, Mathew the owner: outstanding! He also showed us his garden, it is quite a botanical garden. He cultivate a lot of rare plants. Breakfast was luxurious! I recommend this place so much. The best relation price/ quality in our trip in south Africa.

Such a wonderful place! Had a relaxing time. Wish we had more time there. Matthias is such a wonderful and caring kind host/manager. He really cares about the hotel and has pride in his service to all the details. Highly recommend a stay here . The area was also wonderful . Hotel has amazing views of the harbour and the ocean .

We had wonderful stay with Matthias and his team.Knysna is the pearl of the Garden Route, so much to share- food, hikes, landscapes. The view from Candlewood Lodge on the Heads is stunning, beautiful garden - and the breakfast in the Lodge is unbeatable. Super helpful and friendly team ! Thank you

I cannot begin to describe what fabulous place Candlewood guesthouse is. Our first time to knysna, and everybody at Candlewood made our stay incredible. Manager /chef , Faith, Took such good care of us, as did everybody who works there. Faith gave us amazing ideas of things to do every day and we always took her advice. There’s so much to see and do there, we could have easily stayed two weeks I’ll start off by saying the rooms are incredibly beautiful and comfortable. The views overlooking our room were worth $1 million. The Breakfast we had in the morning was nothing short of Michelin star caliber. And I say that after visiting the $5000 a night Safari camps we stay at. But the highlight of the trip was honestly that the people who work there really care about you and do everything in their power to make sure you have a wonderful stay . We are so happy we found this wonderful gem of a place . We are already planning on coming back with several friends and family members next year for an even longer stay. Thank you, Faith and everybody else for making our trip wonderful you truly know the meaning of five star hospitality

This is an absolutely awesome place! We spent three nights at the Candlewood Logde and would have loved to stay even longer. From the very warm welcome by Matthias (walking with him in the garden with a glass of wine, where he explained lots of interesting details about the plants, flowers and herbs growing there) to the 3 course dinner and the outstanding breakfast - it was just perfect. We've never seen a breakfast buffet of such a high quality and variety before in a Guesthouse/Lodge. The whole team is very friendly and you feel treated like a family member. Everyone is eager to spoil their guests. We've stayed in the Sand room, which has a nice balcony with a view on the lagoon of Knysna and Thesen Island. A big thank you to Matthias and "the Candlewood ladies" for an unforgettable stay.

Candlewood is a guesthouse of high quality, with an eye for detail in the furnishings. It is located up on a hill with majestic views down across the lagoon and to the ocean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, starting with the warm and friendly welcome from Mattias. This friendliness extended to the staff who were more than helpful. Our room was large, luxurious and outstanding in every aspect. It was very quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was superbly presented with a hot meal cooed to order. There was a wide variety of options to please anyone. We highly recommend the Candlewood without hesitation.

After spending 21 days in South Africa staying in similar accommodation I can categorically say that Candlewood Lodge was the BEST! The attention to detail in the rooms was very noticeable. Matthias and his staff were very welcoming and extremely efficient. The breakfast choice, presentation and taste was 5 star. The views were outstanding my husband and I did not want to leave because of all of the above. Do yourself a big favour and stay at Candlewood Lodge for at least 2 nights or longer (like we did) One night is just not enough.
