Simbavati Fynbos on Sea

Some of the best views on the garden route the location is really breath taking. We enjoyed the walks around the fynbos reserve and also found it a great base to trips around the garden route (we went to Robberg for the day). They had a baby cot for our little one although no bedding. I would definitely reccomend for families.

From the moment you arrive the team here help you get on African time. Highly knowledgeable and engaged this is the perfect place to walk, enjoy the fynbos and the views, the birds, bucks, zebra and eland. Just such a wonderful experience and the accommodation and food were to die for. And I haven’t mentioned the extensive wine list!

This is a small and quiet hotel perched on a hilltop. The views go on forever. Fantastic views of ocean and mountains. Several excursions are available - a beach walk, nature walk and the protea farm. We had the same guide, Keith, each excursion. He is very knowledgeable and shared so much about the geology and the fynbos. Several trails on the property

It was ♥️ at first sight and a perfect start for our visit to Garden Route and Sedgefield itself. In order to have full experience at Simbavati Fynbos On Sea or as I call it a “Home away from home”, one has to physically spend a few days and my only conclusion is: It was EXCEPTIONAL on all accounts ❤️ From initial dealings with Rebecca (from res team) to actual team which included Yolandie, Keith, Dalenee & Tasmene, Shaniece, Barbara & Niffa and Frikkie. I must not forgot to mention, my fav guys - chef Coenie and ranger Keith. But, psttt, please do not tell them that 🤫 Chef Coenie’s delish and beautifully presented meals are what makes this property different to so many. When I was chatting with him what impressed me was his creativity and his modesty. Keith was so, so knowledgable, patient and extremely friendly. And he could talk. To my surprise more then myself 🫣😂 I wish we were in a Big 5 area where Keith’s knowledge and passion for nature would be used to the full potential. At Simbavati Fynbos on Sea your entire team is über kind and it is all about customers and one can feel their passion, love in everything they do. This was also one of the most relaxed & casual, understated, however, upmarket stays, which offered superb service by some of the modest people that I have ever come across. Above was complemented with an exceptional attention to detail at every step and included: - beautifully designed, spacious and well appointed suites. - meals which were exceptional in taste, quality and presentation, meticulously prepared and presented by chef Connie and his team. Yummie indeed 😋 - daily interaction with Simbavati super friendly and accommodating staff which is ready to accommodate every customer’s wishes and needs. - unspoiled nature with uninterrupted and endless 360 sea & mountain views. - option of many activities to keep one busy and “entertained”. - at night, amazing views towards the stars and Milky Way Galaxy. - Simbavati Fynbos On Sea definitely has a WOW effect. I was told that soon you will be opening a Spa which was only thing missing on this trip. Since it will be opening soon, I volunteer to visit again very soon. Have a few suggestions which could be added for the guests: - after witnessing the most beautiful evening sky and stars, Simbavati could possibly offer stargazing experience. - since Oudtshoorn which is close by and has world famous Cango Caves, why not offer guests a day trip to this site? This was my first visit to this spectacular site and it was WOW … Best part of our stay was: “One arrives as a guest and leaves as a friend.” Thank you so very much again 🙏

Our family weekend getaway to Simbavati's Fynbos on Sea Lodge was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, the management and staff greeted us with genuine warmth, setting the tone for a memorable stay. The accommodations were impeccable, with our room spotlessly clean and well-maintained. The culinary experience was a highlight of our visit. Both breakfast and dinner at the restaurant were absolutely divine. The chef's skill was apparent in every dish, and the waitstaff provided attentive, professional service that enhanced our dining experience. One of the most captivating aspects of our stay was the guided nature walks. Our knowledgeable and friendly guide introduced us to the fascinating world of Fynbos and other local plant species. The natural beauty of the surroundings was breathtaking, and we were thrilled to observe the diverse wildlife in the area. The combination of top-quality service, excellent cuisine, comfortable accommodations, and immersive nature experiences made our stay at Simbavati's Fynbos on Sea truly special. It's an ideal destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat in a stunning coastal setting. We left feeling refreshed and enriched by our experience. Highly recommended for nature lovers and those looking for a serene getaway with a touch of luxury.

We arrived late for checkin and rang to advise we’d be late. Staff were great and said not a problem., and met us at the top of the very long drive. Check in was a breeze and the assistance the staff offered was wonderful, especially as we were exhausted from a long drive. Our room was amazing with outstanding views across the lake and down the coast line. Sunrise was a treat from our patio. Meals were plentiful and very tasty. Staff couldn’t do enough for us. By the time we had finished breakfast the staff had sorted out our room, going as far as folding clothes neatly that were at the base of the bed. Our guide, who took us around the property to see zebra, bush bucks and water bucks as well as learn about different vegetation, was extremely knowledgable and very enthusiastic. We certainly came away with a better understanding of the fynbos and how important the plants you will find within them are. We learnt a great deal about the zebras and the different types of bucks that have been introduced to the property over the past ten years and their sustainability and resilience. I certainly can’t speak more highly of this beautiful property perched high on the hill and centrally located on the garden route with amazing staff who went out of their way to assist us. Thank you.
