We have been travelling around Sri Lanka and this is by far the best place we stayed! The location is perfect, just on the outskirts of Sigiriya that it is relatively quiet but everything is only a short drive away. Also plenty of restaurants and shops around if needed. Both the bedroom and bathroom were immaculate. We had a mosquito net over the bed which was extremely useful due to being far inland. The grounds of the accommodation were lovely, lush and green and from our understanding they are improving even further! Lakmal and his family were the kindest, friendliest, most attentive hosts. Anything we needed, including organising cars and tuk tuks, they assisted. They even helped us delivering and collecting our laundry from a local trusted laundrette! We had a delicious home cooked dinner served by their family both nights. Breakfast was also great, a variety of fruits, roti, toast and omelette. Can’t recommend this stay highly enough if you will be in Sigiriya!

A very spacious, clean bungalow set in a garden with terrace for sitting in front (we had the triple room), fabulous for the price. There is a lovely shared breakfast/dinner terrace, and good home cooking is available for breakfast and dinner. The owners were very welcoming and caring, assisting us with all aspects of touring and travel. Lakmal even gave us a lift to a restaurant one day when no tuk tuk was available. Location is in Kimbissa, a little quieter than neighbouring Sigiriya, but still close to everything. Good points: Extremely comfortable and good value, very helpful staff and good food. Bad points: Not related to this accommodation, but be aware that everything in Sigiriya is more expensive because a big tourist area!

Are stay was excellence a perfect introduction to Sri Lanka culture, budget priced hotel with 5 star service private room and nature. Young couple on 30’s would highly recommend for your stay close to all attractions also meals were local food but everybit amazing. No fridge in room but the host are happy to store anything in there fridge and basically anything you need at anytime some one is around to help. Family ran place. You won’t regret your stay One Aussie 🇦🇺 one Canadian 🇨🇦

Amazing place to stay! The owner and his family are so kind and helpful and made our trip so easy and enjoyable. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. The owner planned all our trips for us and told us the best restaurants to go to in the area and also gave us all the best tips!

Lakmal and his family represented the the Sri Lankan hospitality. They are amazing host, the food was very delicious and everything was perfect. The garden absolutely beautiful and the mornings with the birdsongs was our favourite with my wife. Highly recommended, we definitely want to go back. Thank you Lakmal and your family! ❤️

Nilu from Anuradhapura advised me to stay at this hotel and I definitely recommend it. Iakmal and his wife are so helpful and honest. I am more than grateful for meeting them in Sri-Lanka. When I had issues with a tuktuk driver, Iakmal figured out and find us a good solution. For my next time in Sri-Lanka, I will come to see them again in their beautiful hotel

A wonderful experience here at Liyon Rest with Lakmal and his lovely family. A true taste of Sri Lanka hospitality. Amazing food fresh cooked with ingredients from the garden. Lots of elephants in vicinity for nature enthusiasts. Also a large lake on the property with views of Lion Rock. Too many exotic birds to mention and lovely wild peacocks every. Rooms lovely authentic and clean with AC. Very comfortable place to relax after a days sightseeing Highly recommended and I will definitely be back. Thanks Lakmal and Pappa. You should be very proud of your place.

Fantastic homestay with wonderfully warm hosts. Lakmal, his wife and family were most welcoming. The chalet was clean and comfortable, with a lovely veranda for relaxing with views over the garden. Very quiet location with a jungle feel. The traditional breakfast and rice and curry were lovely, do eat in if you stay here. Lakmal was very accommodating and gave us good advice about how to fit in both Sigirya and Polunawara, he was also our driver and guide which was really helpful. His local knowledge was more than enough. When we found the road had fallen into the river on our way to the Rose Quartz Mountains he did not give up and by using local tuk tuk we still managed to get there. They also have a very good ayevedic massage place nearby, do try it if you can. Lakmal also did the transfer to our next location in the car. Best homestay so far on our trip, lovely people, highly recommended.

I went to lyon rest for one stay. Lakmal is such a humble and friendly person. He arranged me a transport for pidurangala morning hike. Food also taste. Quite lovely place. I'll recommend this place for especially families . Because there is 10-15 min walk for a Sigiriya rock ❤
