Great hotel, fabulous service, nice rooms. Bed was comfortable, very quiet. Lovely surroundings , great location for walks. Restaurant was really good, we had a 3 course evening meal, afternoon tea and 2 breakfasts . All were top quality. Recommended, we'll be back.

A wonderful hotel in a beautiful part of the country. Turn off the lake road at Grange over the lovely stone bridge, a short drive & you've reached your destination. A warm welcome from Joanna, then up to your beautiful restful room with glorious views. The food is outstanding. Great flavours, inventive and beautifully presented and we loved having a change of menu every evening. The staff were all attentive and very friendly and looked after us extremely well. If I had to use one word to describe our stay I think I'd say Bliss! Thank you all and all being well we'll see you in the Spring.

I can only describe our stay as perfect in every way and just disappointed that we only had one night. The hotel is everything and more, a lovely warm welcome. The room was spacious, beautiful interior and comfy bed. Views from the hotel are spectacular and the restaurant is top notch. We had room 15, it was on the 1st floor and had extensive TV choices including Disney, Netflix. The carpet and furnishings were sumptuous and the bathroom had a shower cubicle and separate bath. Everything was pristine. We ate at the restaurant, the food was amazing, a five course set menu where service was effortless and each dish tasted as good as it looked. Great night's sleep and delicious breakfast. I can't wait to return again.

The Borrowdale Gates is one of those places that you lock up in your heart - and as soon as you leave you will be promising yourself that you will return. In the meantime you will have wonderful memories - of a hotel where you were warmly welcomed, where you were able to relax in beautiful surroundings, and where every meal was simply excellent. The Borrowdale Gates was the perfect Lake District experience for us - in every way. Until the next time...thank you for a fabulous stay. We enjoyed every part of it.

We had the wonderful pleasure of staying at the Borrowdale Gates Hotel for 9 glorious days and it could not have been better. We arrived and were greeted like family by Nicola. Throughout our stay she recommended places for us to visit and all of them were home runs, she did not disappoint. The kitchen chefs made incredible meals and accommodated our soy allergy without any problem. You will LOVE the food. The meal staff, Eleanor, Lucy, Chris and Marilyn always took time to chat with us and Chris always kept us laughing with his fabulous sense of humor. Marilyn made sure we had breakfast on our departure morning, as we left before the staff arrived. We commend all of the behind the scenes staff as well, they kept everything in order! However, we believe the glue to the Borrowdale Gates Hotel is their GM, Sue. She is amazing. She took care of us like we were family, introduced us the the chefs (I am so sorry I don’t remember their names) and told us many tales of sheep, Keswick and the Borrowdale Gates history, to name a few. We miss them all!! We hope to return and we would encourage anyone who is visiting the Lake District to stay at the Borrowdale Gates Hotel. You will be treated like royalty. (And, the property is gorgeous, the views incredible and remodeled interior is beautiful, sparkling clean, and very comfortable.)

Once again a lovely break in this special hotel. Sleep quality would have had five stars but for the inability to provide us with a lighter duvet (even though it said in the information pack that they were available). We were given a blanket but that only just reached the sides of the bed. We were warm enough (the weather was unseasonably warm), but just not as comfortable as we could have been with a duvet. Rooms would have had five stars but the toilet roll holder had been positioned in a very awkward place so neither of us could sit on the toilet without hitting it.
