Very warm welcome from staff, superbly clean room, very pleasant and relaxing lounge/bar area. Food was exceptional - very high quality ingredients and cooked perfectly!

The hotel is well presented with some great friendly members of staff. All the meals were delicious with good choices for breakfast. Only downside would be lack of any help when checking in with luggage. As travelling with elderly family meant had to move suitcases by myself to multiple rooms and then the same when checking out. In hindsight wish had asked for ground floor rooms for them.

Full of character and charm the Borrowdale Hotel is perfect. No airport style reception, cold and clinical rooms or hot tubs and beauty parlours. Think tastefully traditional with roaring fires, a conservatory with view of the garden and the hills beyond. Quiet and in keeping with the countryside that you will want to immerse yourself in.

Maria and all her staff are amazing!! Nothing is too much trouble!! Rooms are super comfortable, food is amazing and a special mention to Andre, who went out of his way to ensure I did not miss my breakfast even though I had to leave at 6.30am.. way before anyone was awake!The breakfast goodie bag was so appreciated and got me through the day!! Can't wait for my next visit!!

A beautiful setting for a really good hotel. The room we had was excellent, clean and cosy. In fact 'cosy' is a good word for the hotel. Staff were excellent. Only slight disappointment was the food. It was reasonable, but over-priced and I would have expected better from such a good place. Hence only giving 4 stars. However, we'll definitely go back.

Hotel is in perfect location for walks straight from the hotel. Bus stop is directly outside the hotel if not feeling energetic. Had a classic double room which was compact and a bit tight for space. Due to position of taps on bath it made it very difficult to get into and out of the bath. Hotel has a lovely interior. Breakfast and Dinner were excellent however food and drinks are expensive.

Wonderful hotel well located for the beauty of the lakes. The hotel has been re-furbished and now looks great inside and out. Food is better than ever and the staff and service is good. Nice and relaxing place to stay for a long weekend.

Our second visit, but our first since being diagnosed coeliac/gluten intolerant. A wonderfully located hotel for exploring the area on foot, by bus, car, and on the water (to/from Keswick etc. by launch). Very comfortable lounges, spotlessly clean rooms, with friendly staff. The restaurant (for dinner and breakfast), had a warm and welcoming feel and their gluten free menu was impressive. There was very little, if anything, that was not on the main menu. Great value too using one of their special offers. Only down side was no gluten free beers. Will definitely recommend to others and will stay again.
