Hidden Pond Resort

My stay at Hidden Pond, during high season, was terribly underwhelming. I encountered staffing deficiencies every step of the way. From the shuttle to town unavailable when needed during regular mealtime hours, to an absence of poolside staff to refresh the towel bin, to hunting down staff in the pool-adjacent restaurant to get a refreshment… the challenge to find help was relentless. On-site dining reservation availability was slim to none. The rooms were nice, however the overall experience was not up to par for the price point.

I booked Hidden Pond for an anniversary gift for my husband having never been and using TA reviews. Hidden Pond is an enchanting property with lovely individual bungalows that give a very beach house neighborhood feel with lovely accommodations and appointments throughout the property. We had an excellent couples massage with April and Sunshine (who were both fantastic) in the unique Tree Room of the Spa, we had a top notch 4 course dinner at Earth complete with a great selection of mocktails, we rode the bikes at our bungalow to the beach and felt like kids again, we enjoyed yoga in the garden and used the gym for additional sweat, and relaxed by the lovely pool. What made us feel so delighted is the way we were greeted at checkin by Shellae who was a joy, and when she found out we were celebrating our 15th anniversary she made us feel even more welcome. Thank you Hidden Pond team for making our stay so very memorable!

Stumbled upon Hidden pond while on Instagram. I am SO glad I did. All I can say is WOW. I am in complete love with this place and before we left started planning our next stay here. We love the woodsy/camp vibes but also upscale service and accommodations. The morning pastry is such a treat!! Each day is different and always delicious. The maid service and nightly turn down service is SO nice. They even left a treat on our pillows The bath amenities were wonderful. We got bicycles and rode around which was fun. We met the grander and learned a lot. We also tasted some of the herbs in season. (We can’t want to come back later in the year to see the full garden in bloom). After an amazing dinner at Earth we rode to the s’mores pit and enjoyed a s’more There was not a single detail the staff holds back on. If you’re thinking about staying here, don’t hesitate.

I have to take a moment and warn fellow travelers about my experience with this company. After making reservations for 2 nights, we attempted later to book a 3rd to take advantage of an end of season celebration they promoted via email. This is where the enchantment wore off. Since I booked through my credit card company, they were not able to just add a day. This may seem crazy to some, but to them it is SOP. Their system can only book 2 day minimum, and since I already had 2 days and need only one additional, I was told it was not possible. Their solution was for me to cancel my previous reservation, which was $30 less a night and then they could book the full 3 days easy peasy, albeit at the higher rate. So, I changed my entire plans, including flight schedules, and called back to complete the reservation. During my call "Brian", whom I had spoken with previously, became confused. On my original call I had requested to extend my reservation leaving 11/3 to 11/4. Now in a moment of clarity, he informed me that they close for the season the 3rd. I requested a manager to discuss my dismay and was transferred to Lindsy, who was very apologetic but was not a manager, one was not on duty today. My only recourse was to cancel my entire reservation, included restaurant reservations and begin another search for somewhere that would match my dates and hopefully tell me correct information on the first call before more hours of my life are wasted.

Poor service (housekeeping and foodservice) wasn’t offset by beauty of grounds and remodeled cabins - WAY overpriced for what it is able to offer guests in the high season. Mgmt follows policies when it suits them economically, but not when guests receive subpar service. Group owns 9 properties in Kennebunk area, so feels a bit institutional and undermanaged vs boutique we were looking for. Recommend looking elsewhere for a better value and Kennebunkport experience!

Hidden Pond is pure serenity. Cabins were lovely and cleaning team was amazing! Morning yoga was perfect in the garden and my massage was very relaxing. Although the resort is set apart from town center, the shuttle service was perfect for getting around. Deano the chauffeur was always prompt and had great suggestions to make our stay better And we loved his music !!!
