We had a terrible experience here, I would absolutely NOT recommend this place. First time ever, I have had to write a review as such. The rooms (and overall house) are very dusty/dirty, slovenly and the furniture is broken down and overly worn. Doorknobs fall off, accessories are rusty, no shampoo/bath amenities whatsoever. The breakfast room is charming - the moldy bread offered therein, is not. The entire place smells of mold, so if you're allergic to it, be careful. Absolutely not worth the nightly charge to be there. The owner is imperious, cantankerous and his "hospitality" is spotty and insincere; when he's feeling up to being nice, you're in luck. If not, beware.

The Old Priory is an absolute gem, as is Robin, the owner. It is a wonderful character property in the heart of Kelso. The rooms are clean, spacious and furnished with handsome period furniture. The whole place gives you a warm hug. Robin is friendly and helpful, happy to answer any questions. Breakfast, cooked by him, is to order. It was delicious, well presented and the dining room has a cosy period atmosphere. The Old Priory, and Robin are a world away from the corporate hotels. It was a pleasure to stay there and hope to return one day.

Just back from a lovely stay at the Old Priory. Robin is a great host, very friendly and helpful with lots of recommendations on what to see while in the area. We stayed in the Library an amazing atmospheric space - full of light from the two sash windows. We only closed the shutters halfway at night to enjoy the moonlight! Generous-sized shower with piping hot water day and night. The bed was so comfy and the bedding is sumptuous. Robin served an array of offerings for breakfast, all beautifully cooked and presented on William Morris china. Homemade jam and bread from the local bakery are welcome additions. Not for you if you like sterile, functional places, but if you're looking for a home away from home, the Old Priory is warmly recommended.

We stayed for two nights while in town to go to Kelso races. The house is very nice, full of character and very comfortable. The breakfasts are made to your order and were excellent. Robin is very helpful and can tell a story. We would happily stay again next time we are in town.

The building is old and beautiful our room was comfortable and just right for our needs. Robin our host is amiable and likes a laugh Breakfast was very nice either way a choice of a hot breakfast Do try “eggs a la Sydney” for breakfast you won’t be sorry

We spent three nights in the Turret Room. Although the room faced the road, it was very quiet. The room is spacious, the bed warm and comfortable. The en suite is large with an excellent shower. Robin is an exceptional host who provides a tasty home cooked breakfast. You won’t go wrong booking a few nights here if you are visiting Kelso or the surrounding area.

Excellent. Nothing much to add. Lovely house, great room, comfy bed, perfect location, fantastic breakfast. Robin is a lovely host, great entertainer and he knows how to cook! Definitely going to stay again next time we'll be visiting Kelso.

Spent three nights here last week and it was a delightful experience. It’s full of character with beautiful rooms in a fine historic building in the heart of Kelso with the Abbey behind and one of the town’s streets in front. Parking is no problem and the sights, shops and restaurants of Kelso are close by. Breakfasts are excellent, freshly prepared by Robin, the owner who is rightly proud of his outstanding facilities. Thank you, Robin for your warm welcome, help and advice. The Old Priory will be our first call when next in Kelso.

We stayed at the Old Priory in Kelso for four nights. We had a very nice and comfortable time there in the family suite. Breakfast was good with many options for cooked food. Thank you Robin for all your good advice referring to the things to do in the area and on our way back to Newcastle. All the best, Annette and Thomas
