This small boutique hotel looks the part but we felt was more design over substance. We booked two rooms at short notice when the Airbnb we had booked failed to live up to expectations. One was a larger suite the other a smaller room. Both were really warm and the aircon insufficient. We were unable to open the door India’s as there were swarms of large flies all over the windows and roof. There were really large gaps in the strange curtain arrangement over the velux windows which allowed lots of light in. There is no one available on site other than at breakfast if you have any issues - you have to email them and wait for a response from high we found irritating. They advertise that you can enjoy a lively drink on the roof terrace and watch the sunset but when we enquired we were told it is only open during working hours. Breakfast is unusual but very tasty but the fact that we were actually assigned 30 euros each for breakfast was inly explained as we were leaving. The bedding is good as are the bathroom products but the round bed in one of the rooms was uncomfortable and the foam mattresses very hot.

Decor is very modern and cool both in the lobby itself and the room. We enjoyed the checkin process of just entering your given code on a keypad to retrieve your key. Albeit the key pad was not calibrated well so it took a few attempts! The rooms are numbered in order with 1 and 2 being on the first floor and so on. The welcome macaron and personalised letter was a nice touch. The room faced the street. We stayed on a Thursday night and trying to get to sleep was difficult due to the noise from the bar below while it remained open and we were woken up by street noise (people shouting after pubs) even with the windows closed. You can also hear your upstairs neighbours walk around. If you are a light sleeper, something to bear in mind. In addition this, we were woken up in the morning by a staff member knocking our door several times to retrieve the iron and mini ironing board we had used the previous evening. We did not appreciate this, considering we were not asked to hand this back when given it. The air con either did not work or not very strong. Unsure as there were no instructions on how to operate. I really liked the brass fixings in the bathroom however the hot water fixing at the sink was lose. The toiletries provided were lovely, they smelt really nice, however there was no shelf or indent in the wall in the shower to take these in with you so they either sat on the floor or you had to lean over the toilet to get to them. No space for a toilet roll holder either so that sat out also. In a wet room this wasn’t ideal. Ideally we would have booked a bigger apartment however due to availability on the day this wasn’t possible as the Number 2 apartment was too small for us and our travelling cases. I couldn’t find a place to get ready with good lighting so ended up sitting on the floor and using my own mirror. I think this apartment is more of a weekend stay for locals with little luggage! The bed was really comfortable and the sheets felt lovely and soft. I was apprehensive about a mattress on the floor but very impressed with how comfortable it was, the size and it really fit the vibe of the room. There is wifi available however we found it dropped out quite a lot, trying to watch a show on Netflix on the tv was difficult as it cut out several times. Perhaps since the building is old the wifi struggles with the walls. We booked directly on the hotels website as we found that to be the best rate and that way you know the hotel gets the full cut of the income. Our booking came with €24 breakfast allowance per room. We were emailed in advance of the stay to ask where we wanted this served (lobby, terrace or room) and what time. On arriving in the lobby at allocated breakfast time the male owner and manager were sitting in the lobby however neither acknowledged our presence - occupied with their business conversation. Once we did get a member of staff to notice us, we ordered eggs Benedict’s each and a coffee each - this took us up

Tijdens ons verblijf in Kaunas hebben wij gekozen voor BōHEME House. We verbleven er twee nachten in appartement 5, the photographer apartment. BōHEME House is gelegen in het oude centrum van Kaunas in een verkeersluwe zone, waardoor dit de ideale locatie is om Kaunas te ontdekken. Al bij het binnenkomen in het gebouw voel je de warmte en liefde voor architectuur waarmee het geheel is vormgegeven. Het inchecken verliep vlot en ging eenvoudig, dankzij de informatie dat ons op voorhand werd bezorgd. De kamer was net, functioneel en zeer leuk ingericht. Het bed ‘in open lucht’ was extra aangenaam omdat het sneeuwde bij onze aankomst. Voor het ontbijt kan je kiezen uit een mooi aanbod aan verschillende gerechten. Je hebt de keuze om het ontbijt de consumeren op de kamer of in de lobby. De eerste ochtend kozen wij voor het ontbijt in de kamer. Dit werd gebracht door een zeer vriendelijke dame en was zeer verzorgd en lekker. De t****e ochtend kozen wij ervoor om het ontbijt te consumeren in de lounge. De bediening gebeurde door een andere dame dan het eerste ontbijt. Deze dame was ronduit onbeschoft! Gelukkig was het ontbijt wel opnieuw verzorgd en lekker. Conclusie: Dit verblijf is een absolute aanrader voor de architectuurliefhebbers. De kamers zijn leuk vormgegeven en het ontbijt is zeer lekker. Dit in combinatie met de locatie maakt het de ideale uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan Kaunas.
