Timbers Kauai Ocean Club & Residences

"We were met by the host with cold towels and juice but we were not invited to the neighboring lounge that made it embarrassing to wipe sweat in front of everyone. Our host did not include a complete tour, just comments along the way to our room. For example, we were told that we could order food and drinks using a QR code at the tables. It doesn’t exist. We were told there was a grill at the pool. It turns out that it was a pool toy depot only. We were told there were electric bikes available. It turns out it’s for owners only. Our sea view room was pool chairs and bushes, no view. The seaside Infinity pool had a sign that said ”Owners and Their Registered Guests Only”. So no resort experience there. We ordered food in advance to stock our refrigerator including 3 six packs of water. We receive 3 cases of water and we left two full cases when we departed. About on-third of our order was not fulfilled. The restaurant was a highlight. Great sea food and we ate there 5 times. There was also great musical entertainment. It’s weird, not once did a manager ask about our experience. It’s definitely not a Michelin star experience. The best part was going off the resort including golf. The golf staff was wonderful. We chose Timbers to determine if we should invest as owners given the reciprocal world wide opportunities. It’s not very refined."

"The place is relatively remote, and the price is surprisingly expensive during the Christmas period, about nearly 350 US dollars per night. Since the plan was late, other hotels were booked by others and I had to make do here, but the service was extremely poor. The order Ctrip gave us said check-in was available at 3pm, but when we went there we were told it was 4:00, and it was your travel agency's fault. We went outside and went back at 4:15 and still didn't have a room, and they didn't say when. To get it done, there were 3-4 people working at the front desk but they said there were not enough people cleaning the back. We asked why the front desk wasn’t sent to provide support? Didn't answer, then called out a manager to resist. Not only did that person not apologize, he actually said that if you are not satisfied, you can cancel the order for free and we will not fine you. How could there be such an arrogant person working as a customer service manager today? We later saw that other customers had not gotten a room after running back and forth several times, and some arrived as early as 2:00 p.m. So a few of us banded together and said we wanted to file a complaint against the manager. They got scared and quickly created a few rooms to appease us. So there must be a big problem with the management of this hotel. Other facilities are fine, but the service has caught up with such a poor team."

"This hotel is fantastic! It's a villa-style hotel with everything you could need in the room: a washer and dryer, laundry detergent and dryer sheets, a kitchen, and a dishwasher—very convenient. The environment is also great, the pool and hot spring are nice, and the restaurant service is excellent. The food selection is average, but that's typical for white people, I guess. Overall, it exceeded my expectations, and I really enjoyed the hotel."

Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club

"Lovely and well manicured resort that is perfect for families...it has it all. Fun pools for kids, big plush lawns, excellent beach (swim-able, Hawaiian monk seals, turtles ), and great gym. Rooms are good size. We had 2bd/2bath with a full size kitchen, inside dinning table, and out-side dinning on our balcony. View was of manicured garden, ponds, and waterfall. Numerous out-door barbecues available, no waiting. Beach-side restaurant/bar was good. Food was reasonable and drinks were resort rates. Grand kids gave it a big thumbs-up! Staff was helpful."

"The hotel doesn't do housekeeping every day, but everything you need is provided. Very convenient, and I especially liked their bath towels. They're even better than some five-star hotel towels. I saw a rainbow this morning! 🌈"
