Turaco Ngorongoro Valley, a Tribute Portfolio Lodge

This resort had me speechless, the drive up was a little questionable but once the gates opened it was all worth it. Staff were incredible and all the amenities were great. The rooms were spectacular, felt like I was in my own spa. The food was great and all locally grown. Unfortunately the location has a lot of stairs so it’s not wheelchair accessible. If you have some mobility issues, the staff will drive you to the closest possible place to make it easier.

This is an outstanding hotel. The rooms are unbelievably large and is the best hotel room I have ever stayed in. The pictures do not do it justice. The staff is exceptional and a special shout to Mary and Calvin. We went out on the coffee, village tour which is a walk from the hotel. I normally dislike tours like this, but Calvin and all the people on the tour made it very special. Really, take a walk in to the village with the Marriott team if you have a chance. Finally, the kitchen. They food is just outstanding. A triune five star experience every night. I highly recommend this hotel.

The rooms were well designed and spacious. The beds were very comfortable. It had all the amenities one is used to having at home. The gardens,trees and the green areas were immaculately kempt. The staff were well trained and courteous. Everyday the food, was something, to look forward to. The Chef, obviously, aims to attain, a very high standard. The managent were always there, to meet any needs and any special requests. The Turaco Ngorogoro Valley lodge was the highlight of our trip.

Marriott Ngorongoro is an amazing hotel! It feels more like a medium-sized boutique hotel that truly has everything you need. The experience here is very different from a big Marriott Resort — you get the same comfort and quality of the brand, but with a much warmer, homier atmosphere. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The hotel’s location is perfect — centrally placed to visit both Ngorongoro Valley and Tarangire Park. It’s not inside the park, but about 30 to 40 minutes away, which is totally fine. The area is remote yet very peaceful, ideal for relaxing after a long day on safari. The chef is amazing, and the food was outstanding — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Honestly, the service made us feel like we were in a 10-star hotel! Even though it’s not huge, the hotel has everything you could want: a gym, spa, bar, and a cozy fireplace — all in a smaller, intimate setting. The rooms are gorgeous and spacious, and the beds are incredibly comfortable, which is so important after long safari days. We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely come back. Highly recommend!

We just returned from 8 unforgettable days at Turaco Ngorongoro Valley, and wow—this place absolutely blew us away. We originally booked another lodge in Karatu but needed stronger WiFi for work calls. By chance we found TNV through the Marriott app, expecting solid service and connectivity. What we got was FAR beyond anything we imagined and beyond any Marriott experience we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, greeted with hibiscus tea and warm towels after a dusty ride, the staff made us feel like family. Every single person was warm, attentive, and professional. The food deserves special mention—every meal was incredible, and the chef went out of the way to accommodate dietary requests. The chocolate French toast quickly became our 5-year-old’s favorite. The spa was equally luxurious, the perfect way to unwind after safari days. The lodge itself feels like a treasure chest—full of cozy nooks, board games, and spaces to relax, read, or (in my case) sneak in a homeschool lesson. It’s very family-friendly, and our son was embraced with so much love and care by everyone. He especially adored the traditional music, dance, and fire show. A huge thank you to Mary, the manager, whose warmth, professionalism, and leadership shine through in every detail of the experience. She has built something truly special here. A few unique things made this lodge stand out: it’s set far enough from the busy streets to feel peaceful and quiet, surrounded by beautiful farm-to-table gardens. Each evening, Maasai guides walked us to our rooms—a thoughtful and memorable touch. We explore both Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro crater from here, both a short drive. The lodge is also within walking distance of the Elephant Caves, and the team can help arrange visits to local schools, rescue centers, and more. These special touches made our stay unforgettable. This was more than a lodge or hotel stay—it felt like home. We will never forget our time here and are already planning to return. Highly, highly recommend Turaco Ngorongoro Valley to anyone visiting the area.

Turaco was a spectacular property! There were so many trees and greenery surrounding the area that made it so beautiful. The room, service, food, and location were all tremendous. We really loved this stay and hope to be back one day soon!
