Stayed here for a week’s skiing. The hotel is typically old Austrian and very pretty. Good location for shops, bars, restaurants and the Maiskogel ski lift. The bus stops outside, so handy if you don’t want to walk - but only runs every 30 mins. The bedroom was roomy and comfortable. As a previous reviewer had mentioned, the shower area was open so no privacy which could be a problem. However, you could pull the toilet door over to create a ‘barrier’ of sorts. Sink and towel rail in the middle of the bedroom. Very odd design, a bit of a deconstructed bathroom! Bed comfy but pillows awful - had to have two but still not supportive enough. There is a wellness area with saunas but a bit small and didn’t look particularly relaxing. The hotel doesn’t provide robes, so my sister had to go up to the room in her towel.. Restaurant very good, polite and efficient staff and quality of food very good - both for breakfast and dinner. It is a shame that the hotel feels the need to charge for a carafe of tap water, (€3). This is very penny pinching especially as we had alcohol every night. The other strange thing is that guests are not required to sign against their drinks every night. This means that all or nothing could be added to your room bill at the end of your stay. In fact we got charged for two coffees we never had, but couldn’t bear to raise it with the owner as she was a bit brusque at the best of times! Adequate room to store skis and a heated boot room in the basement. Hotel will also provide ski lift passes, saving time on your first morning. Bar area had no ambience and little seating but we can recommend Hotel Tauernhof, beyond the big Brundl sports store, for a pre or post dinner drink. Friendly barman and a large, comfortable bar area. In fact, we wished we had chosen to stay there! Overall, a pretty good hotel and good value for money, just a few things let it down. Wouldn’t return I’m afraid.
