Terrible experience!!
We are on a 2-week trip across all of Japan and Sanraku Kanazawa was by far the worst experience of all after 5 great stays at hotels in Tokyo, Hakone, Takayama, Kioto, Osaka.
While the hotel is well located and relatively clean, the service and hospitality was simply terrible at breakfast and reception desk.
1) Breakfast
No one has come to the table and offered tea/coffee or take away the plates even once during the breakfast. At around 11.10 we were finishing our short breakfast and my wife went to the coffee machine to get herself a cup of coffee. This is when the manager run to wife rudely and emotionally explaining that the breakfast was open till 11am. This is at the time when there were still people having breakfast.
2) Reception/check-out
The worst experience during the whole of our trip in Japan was at the check out. We thought the ch ci our time time was 12.00, but it was apparently 11.00.
We came around 10.40 and were given the worst hospitality treatment of all hotels I can recall. The lady at the reception named N.Sugiara didn’t even respond to my “good morning”, but in a very rude manner pulled out a calculator and started punching in numbers to show that we need to pay 2,000 for each room because we were 40mins late for check-out. This was done in such a rude and unfriendly manner, that I have never seen at any hotel in the world. I tried to carefully hint to her that we didn’t know about the 11.00am check-out time and that we have never been penalized for a 40-min delay, but she didn’t even respond to that. Most frustrating was to see other local guests doing check1out after us with no questions asked.
Terrible experience and not to be recommended to any travelers, especially foreigners!
