Kalypso Studios

We enjoyed our stay here; comfortable bed, everywhere clean & tidy. Pool well maintained with plenty of sunbeds & chairs and shade if required. Staff friendly & efficient. Most rooms appear to have a small partial sea view as there is another building in front. Free safe deposit box was a bonus but no changing room for those guests checking out with a late departure. Good location; close to several tavernas and shops within a 10 min. walk. Also close to the ferry point to Telendos which is well worth a visit. As usual in these parts there are no footpaths so it is a case of dodging the local traffic.

This was the perfect place to rest, relax and refresh. The room was excellent and the view from the room was wonderful especially the spectacular sunset. The rooms were cleaned every day by the lovely friendly cleaners who always greeted you with a smile. The staff at the hotel were super efficient and friendly nothing was too much trouble. The pool was excellent… the hospitality, food and drinks from the bar were excellent. We spent 14 days at this wonderful hotel and didn’t want to leave …Thank you to everyone for making for a perfect holiday and stay at the fabulous Kalypso Hotel.

Hotel rooms are comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. Rooms are ok, we had a top floor room so had a seaview, not sure every room gets a seaview. Housekeeping is excellent. We had breakfast, served at the hotel across the road and it was very nice. There's a local bus that stops nearby (at the Spongia hotel) and its only EUR2 into town. Unfortunately the pool setup was not ideal. We travelled with Jet2 and they don't advertise on their website that the pool at the Kalypso Hotel is open to use to guests from neighbouring hotels (none of which have their own pools) and also the general public. There are only 10 sunbeds (which are rock hard!) and at some points it was impossible to get a seat. Weekends are even worse when non-hotel guests use the pool area all day with hordes of screaming children jumping in the pool all day. On one day a family pulled up outside in a car, simply walked into the hotel and jumped into the jacuzzi. They they spotted that there was a EUR5 pp charge and promptly ran out! Most days we gave up and went out to the beach. Its one of least relaxing holidays I've ever been on and a real shame as the hotel is lovely and location great. For guests travelling with Jet2 on a late flight to Kos, be warned, if you miss the last ferry you'll be put into accommodation on Kos (which we knew about in advance). In our case it was no where near Mastichari port (we were put up in the sunshine hotel in Tingaki) and we then had to wait for a coach transfer with other guests staying on Kos and spent over an hour dropping off guests at 1am. We managed 4 hours sleep max before being picked up again at 8am to make the 9am ferry (fortunately this transfer was by taxi). Please Jet2 put guests travelling to Kalymnos in accommodation at Mastichari and don't make them travel around Kos doing late night drop offs! On the way back to Kalymnos port for our return journey, the minibus was so overloaded with people and baggage in the aisles and on chairs it was dangerous. We also had a two hour wait in Mastichari port before a coach picked up up to go to the airport.

Would definitely stay again! Great base for exploring the island in a lovely quiet area. We had read about the hill up to the main road, if you struggle with mobility it could be an issue but to be fair it wasn’t an issue for us. Staff at hotel were amazing and helpful, could not fault the cleanliness of the room. The two ladies that clean the rooms do a great job and towels and bedding changed daily. We had food by the pool a couple of times and lovely. Breakfast was served just across the small road in the sister hotel and good selection. Close by to the the jetting that you get the water taxi over to Telendos (definitely need to visit)

Just back from a lovely 2 week stay at Kalypso Studios. Everywhere is spotless, linen and towels changed every day (apart from Sunday) and the cleaning team of 2 do a fabulous job. Yes, the sunbeds are hard plastic but the solution is to buy a cheap air bed and use that under your towel - instant comfort! We handed ours over when we left. The staff are exceptionally helpful, always listened and did whatever they could to help. There was never an issue with only 10 sunbeds round the pool, they were mostly unoccupied, even after 10am and this also limits the number of people who can use the area therefore it is never crowded. The snack bar serves simple but good snacks. The only downside is it is expensive - 4 euros for a small bottle of Mythos but you can buy a large bottle for 2 euros from the nearby supermarket. They never said that you couldn't eat or drink your own supplies though. It's the first place we have been to where you don't pay extra for air conditioning or even safety deposit boxes. Also, the air conditioning can be left on when you leave the room as there isn't a key fob for the electric. If you have a late departure and unable to stay in your room there is a shower (cold water) beside the pool area which you can use but while we were there the door didn't lock due to corrosion but they did say that a maintenance call had been made and the lock would be changed. Breakfast is taken over at the sister hotel opposite and is the usual mix of cooked and continental. There are two tavernas just outside the studios and another couple just up the hill, about 5 minutes away. Take the ferry over to Telendos and spend the day on the beach there. The Ferries run from early morning and the last one returns at midnight so an option is to go over on an evening ferry for dinner at one of the local tavernas there. It's our second time on Kalymnos and we are glad we picked these studios. The furniture around the pool area on the photo's are not current

Came first two weeks of July, weather was amazing, lovely little hotel with amazing views of the sunset. Rooms are ok, pool area abit disappointing only 10 hard sunbeds . Pool right next to main road which they dont show in photo. Also everyone from the 3 hotels across the road use the pool area as well, so can get busy at times. still a great little hotel with friendly staff
