Having travelled for a few weeks it was the bath that lured us to this motel. We had a room at the front so the roar of lorries down the hill for most of the night wasn’t great. The Wi-Fi was patchy, I couldn’t log on at all, my husband could if he stood next to the window. The advise from reception was to ‘buy an android phone’, not particularly helpful. There is a lot of do and don’t, and a threatening note saying you’ll be charged an extra night if the room has a ‘odour’ and they can’t let it out, rather ambiguous. It was nice to have a bath but I wouldn't recommend as a relaxing place to stay, glad it was only one night.

Viaggiando in via strada per 6 settimane in Nuova Zelanda, dopo un giorno di guida, siamo arrivati per un soggiorno di 2 notti, pronti a sistemarsi e rilassarsi. Purtroppo c'era un errore nella nostra prenotazione - abbiamo prenotato 2 notti, ma ci hanno avuto solo per una notte e è stato il weekend di Pasqua occupato. La nostra prenotazione è stata fatta 11 mesi prima e immediatamente hanno riconosciuto il loro errore e ci hanno aggiornato all'unica stanza sinistra, un appartamento di fronte alla spiaggia! La stanza era una posizione molto pulita, meravigliosa e la migliore di tutte, un letto molto confortevole e un incredibile rifugio per sedersi e guardare l'oceano dalle nostre porte della cortile!

This accommodation formed part of a months tour of South Island and was by far the most disappointing. The hotel is situated next to main road which has large lorries using it through the night. The accommodation itself is basic but adequate. Unlike everywhere else in New Zealand, the owners were not particularly friendly or welcoming. Kaikora itself has stunning scenery and I think we could have found accommodation to match, which was shame.

New modern hotel with a mainly neutral colour scheme. Reasonable amount of parking on site, or plenty along the Esplanade. Rooms average size. We went as a group so we had no choice, many of us ended up in rooms with twin beds, they are very comfortable but when you share your bed with your spouse, this wasn't expected nor enjoyed. No electric blankets. It's the middle of winter. I did phone reception 3 times over a couple of issues but the calls were never answered. The rooms heat pump is good, though no heating in the corridor and reception is rather cool too. Tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. Glasses, but no wine glasses in the rooms. Good sized bathroom and good shower. They only provide one hard club chair, seating for anyone else there's a round squab or the bed. Most of the signs are in Maori, only one in our large group could understand a few words. The large group of Asians also staying had no idea of what anything meant. Excellent staff. Helpful and friendly. Uniforms a little casual for this level of hotel. Catering for large groups can often be a challenge, the food offered suited all tastes and was very good. Good cocktail menu. I don't drink much, but really enjoy an Aussie Shiraz, but they only stock NZ wines. Just meant I drank water. The hotel is sited down the south end of the Esplanade, so a bit of a walk to the township. Good, modern, clean, quiet 4.5 star hotel.

A lovely friendly welcome greeted us after a long drive from Christchurch. Situated just off the main highway, it is easy to find. The suites are a good size, very quiet, well equipped, good shower, and each has an outdoor space over looking a central courtyard. There is a supermarket and a pub serving good food within walking distance. The small charming town is a 2 minute drive away. This is not a beach resort but great for dolphin whale & seal watching. Thoroughly recommend.

C'è un parco per giocare ai bambini, e lo spazio è molto ampio. Il bagno e la cucina sono aperti e molto puliti.Ci sono anche lavastoviglie e lavastoviglie.Vai a vedere il luogo di raccolta dei pesci di balena per otto minuti.Il prezzo è pratico e molto soddisfatto.

Among the best accommodation we have stayed in in New Zealand. We had an upstairs room boasting a beautiful view of the gardens and bay framed by the Kaikōura ranges. I couldn’t stop drinking in the view from the balcony in the changing light. The room was beautifully decorated with comfy beds. Goes without saying it was spotlessly clean, but added extras included lovely fluffy robes and delicious homemade lemon shortbread. Breakfast was good with fresh fruit and granola followed by hot cheese & bacon croissant. Nice to chat with fellow travellers and share information & travel tips. Talking of travel tips, Julie gave us worthwhile information around where to eat and the best place to see the seals. We had a fantastic walk with the best views of the seals and their pups. Wish we could have stayed longer. Ps - take the AirKaikoura 40 minute whale watching flight - brilliant - & no more money than the packed whale watching boat.

We were recommended to stay, by friends, and we were not disappointed. Very clean, tidy, cosy unit for an overnight stay on our way to Christchurch. Friendly hosts, Shirley and Morgan, and our unit 12, Studio unit had everything we needed. Quiet from highway noise. You do hear the 2 trains but we love hearing them. Loved the fact that we could go out the gate at the end of the property and walk onto the beautiful, pounding surf beach. Sunrise the next morning, with snow on the mountains, was stunning. We will be back.
