You can fish for salmon off our beach, watch eagles from the porch, discover the many hiking trails or just relax around the fire pit.The spaceThrough the private entrance, enter the family room with a dining area complete with microwave, mini refrigerator, coffee pot and instant hot water pot. There is an assortment of coffee, tea, cider and hot chocolate. The refrigerator is stocked with water, cream, juice, string cheese, milk and yogurt. An assortment of cereals and baked goods is provided. In the family room there is a dining table, chairs, two comfortable recliners and a large flat screen TV. The book cases contain many Alaskan books for your enjoyment during your stay. At the end of a busy day relax and enjoy the comfort of bamboo sheets in either the Eagle or Raven Suite. The Eagle Suite is 200 square feet, has a queen sized bed, 78 square feet en suite bath with tub and dual shower heads. There is a reading area and a flat screen TV. The Raven Suite is 130 square feet and has a queen size bed, flat screen TV and private bath with a step in shower and dual shower heads. In floor heating throughout will help keep you comfortable. All linens are washed in allergy free detergent. Alaskan art work decorate the walls of all the rooms which also have spectacular views of Auke Bay and the garden.Guest accessThe guest space includes two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a family room with a dining area. The guest may use the covered patio area that includes a fire pit, bench, table, and two zero gravity recliners. So 3 beds total (a queen and 2 double beds) for a reduced nightly rate. We love our home and want to share it with others while we're traveling ourselves. From our home, the Mendenhall Glacier is just 2.8 miles away. Auke Bay (fishing, whale watching tours, Hidden Peak Brewery, etc) is just 2.6 miles away. Downtown Juneau and Douglas, with all their shops and attractions, are just 13 miles away. Want a little peace and serenity, besides our front yard? Visit the Shrine of Saint Therese, which is only 13 miles away. If you want to walk a wonderful trail along the Mendenhall River, it's just 1/4 mile away. If you stay at our home, you're centrally located for all that Juneau has to offer. About our home. It's situated on a large lot with a "tiki" deck in the front where you can sit back and relax while enjoying an early morning coffee, or a late evening drink while watching the stars. Well, not really, as it'll most likely be too light to see the stars. However, fall and winter stargazing is amazing if it's not raining.Don't be surprised if you're visited by a bear, deer, or porcupine during your stay. We usually see quite a few each summer as the house is surrounded by woods.Off the family room, you can enjoy a large deck (16' x 40') with a BBQ under a covered area. That way, you can BBQ rain or shine. There is a hot tub at the end of the deck. Unfortunately, it is not functional and needs to be replaced. It will not be replaced this year. We have a large open yard that is surrounded by trees and views of Mt. McGinnis. Mt. McGinnis borders the left side of the Mendenhall Glacier. You'll have access to everything in the 2200 sq/ft house except the garage and storage pantry.Upstairs, you'll find: - 3 bedrooms - the main bedroom with a king bed and ensuite; one bedroom with a queen Tempur-Pedic bed; and a 3rd bedroom with a double-size bed. Each room has a TV and a closet. - A "loft" area with an additional double-size bed, treadmill, and TV. - Full bathroom with tub/shower combo, sink, and toilet.- Washer and dryer. Downstairs, you'll find: - A great room with a kitchen, family area, and dining area.- A beautiful granite countertop kitchen and pretty much everything you need to cook at home if you prefer. Oven, stove, microwave, fridge, freezer, Keurig coffee/tea maker, pots, pans, utensils, plates, etc.- There is an island and a separate bar area for seating up to 8 in the kitchen area. - A TV/family room with a TV and 2 couches, so you can sit back and relax on one side of the kitchen. - A dining area with seating for up to 8.- A half bath.- Open entry front room with two couches.
