Julian Lodge

What a wonderful stay! Dustin was friendly and professional. The shower pressure was spot on. Personally mattresses were comfortably firm. I traveled with my dear friend and the double queen room was perfect. It's right in town so easy to walk around.

The staff was really friendly and helped us check in sooner. Other than that the place is rather old and need a bit of remolding. The queen we reserved was not a queen but a double but I am not one to care at least we had a working heater. Don't inspect a five star hotel just a place lay your head. Hopefully the owner will one day remodel the place.

A fairly basic hotel with nothing super fancy, and nothing seriously wrong, either. Comfortable beds, clean bathroom, and all the necessities, but not a lot of extras. For a two-night stay, there was no housekeeping service after the first night - I don't know if you could ask. When we arrived, the room had been made ready in perfect order. They no longer serve breakfast, but do have muffins, coffee and tea in the mornings, and cookies for an afternoon snack. Essentially, it is a good place to sleep during your visit. There were no noise issues at all. There could have been better lighting in the room. In terms of attributes, I'd say the best thing is the staff, all of whom were super friendly and accommodating in every possible way.

We did not stay in this lodge when we visited Julian but we checked it out for future visits. Our friends, however, stayed here so we were able to look at their accommodation. The one room that we looked at had big room and spacious bathroom. There was even a small coffee maker in the room. The lobby had coffee in the morning for guests. One added bonus to staying in this lodge is that it has parking for guests.

I have stayed here many times and even rented the whole hotel for my son’s wedding but this didn’t get me anywhere with the new owners. I reserved three rooms but had to cancel two of them five days prior because of the flooding that had effected the timing of making it to Julian. They said that because we didn’t give them seven days notice they would charge one night each room. $210 apiece. Their cancellation policy states there will be a fee but not a full night! After many calls they wouldn’t budge. My family and friends will never stay here again! Also we couldn’t even get into our room until 7:30pm because they didn’t clean it on time because of staffing issues! Beware of this place!

My husband and I made a last-minute decision to visit Julian on a Friday night in October. Our choices for lodging were very limited. In fact, the ONLY room I found was at the Julian Lodge. I was told it was small, and only had a full size bed, but I was desperate. I never expected it to be the Ritz. It was OK for 1 night, but nothing great. PROS: great location, friendly & helpful staff, clean room. CONS: the room was as described—small; the bathroom door would not completely close; the hotel wi-fi would not connect; the bed & linens were very average—not great. BOTTOM LINE: for $200/night, it would have been nice to have a better room, but beggars can’t be choosers. I would stay here again, but someplace other than room 112.
