Bahia Vik José Ignacio

We had planned for almost a year to come to Bahia Vik in Jose Ignacio to celebrate my mother-in-law's 80th Birthday. Our stay more than exceeded our expectations. It is a gorgeous setting, with a large dining room/lounge with huge windows that look out on the ocean. Each room is named for the artist whose work decorates that room, which makes the experience feel intimate and unique and not a standardized hotel experience. The hotel is small, and the staff made all 9 of us feel. We were cared for individually, recognizing us whenever we walked by the front desk and continually checking on us, giving advice, or helping us with plans. A couple of employees went above and beyond to help us. Zahira worked tirelessly to ensure we had dinner reservations, activities, and tours. When I had a concern about not being able to get into a crowded yoga class, she made sure to check into the situation and follow up with me so that I was able to enjoy myself. Most importantly, however, Lucia was the hero of our trip. We had a challenging situation involving one of our young adult children who got lost in another town, and she stayed up all night with us, translating Spanish and advising us on how to proceed. She stayed working hours after she needed to and displayed such incredible concern, consideration, and care that we felt we were in excellent hands. We can't wait to return to this beautiful country with lovely people, delicious food, wine, and an exceptional setting.

Imagine paying a staggering USD 2,475 per night for a standard room during New Year's week, only to experience a hotel that neglects to assist with luggage, lacks 24-hour room service, stocks the minibar with nothing but water, offers no guest snacks, serves an abysmally poor breakfast, provides inadequate service, and clearly requires maintenance. To make matters worse, a friend staying at the hotel discovered 3 scorpions in their room. This establishment charges Four Seasons prices but delivers a Mercure level of service. It's a complete disappointment and a waste of money. Imagine pagar incríveis USD 2.475 por noite por um quarto padrão durante a semana de Ano Novo, apenas para se deparar com um hotel que negligencia ajudar com as malas, não oferece serviço de quarto 24 horas, abastece o frigobar apenas com água, não fornece lanches para os hóspedes, oferece um café da manhã extremamente fraco, presta um serviço inadequado e claramente necessita de manutenção. Para piorar, um amigo que ficou no hotel encontrou 3 escorpiões em seu quarto. Este estabelecimento cobra preços de Four Seasons, mas entrega um serviço de nível Mercure. É uma completa decepção e um desperdício de dinheiro.

The hotel is a nice architectural modern and contemporary structure , seafront located with an exceptionally nice view . The rooms are located in units of three rooms aligned buildings some between the dunes , steps away from the shore with nice view . It is a very romantic place to be with beautiful view . The rooms however are furnished with furnitures of modern design resembling a bit some hotels cartoons style not really convenient or useful . Our room , and also the room next door (occupied by other guests had a strong smell of humidity quite unpleasant and at time during the day strong sewers smell really unpleasant for an hotel 5 stars ! We and also the other guests made the staff notice it and they just ignored our complain . The staff of the hotel is limited and although gentle , appeared to be of professional level doing the minimum to pay attention to the costumer . We had to get the luggage’s in by our self at the check out of the room . In the room there is not phone to call the concierge , and no television either . Minimum bar drinks . The bathroom is well equipped, but the shower has no glass perimeter , which resulted in wetting the entire place every shower . Not pleasant . The staff at the restaurant is not professional we had to chase several time the waiter for the table needs. We had not the feeling to be in a 5 stars hotel resulting to be the most expensive of the area , and we will not return .

The location, service, food, and overall ambiance is spectacular. Each person I encountered went above and beyond to fulfill any need that I had. The location is so unique being a hotel actually on the beach. José Ignacio is quite exclusive and expensive, so yes, things are not cheap. But I feel as if the costs were absolutely worth the experience I had here. I cannot wait to return.

The hotel and facilities were very good. The room was especially comfortable, we had an ocean view suite. But most important we’re the staff. I found these young people to be incredibly willing to do whatever was necessary to ensure a positive customer experience. We had a false positive test, the staff was there in the ready to make our stay comfortable and safe. I can’t rave enough about the staff.

Our 'bungalow' was right on the beach overlooking a sand dune and the waves beyond and the hotel was very attractive with multiple pools and common areas. BUT, the bathroom was a huge drawback. It was an open floor plan with no shower enclosure and made entirely of metal. The walls, floor, tub and ceiling were all a brown metal that was rusty and flaking. It was like taking a shower in a shipping container. The water soaked the entire bathroom; when we tried to mop it up with towels, they became covered in a brown muck. And, there was no ventilation so it smelled. I guess the design was supposed to be minimalist, but it was just unsafe and unsanitary. The 'front desk' staff was also disappointing; not very helpful or competent. We were there off-season so the other 'Viks' were closed so we had no other options for restaurants. The coffee was very good, but for the rates that we were paying, I would definitely NOT recommend this hotel.
