Hotel in zona Helgehaugen, Jevnaker

I recently stayed at this hotel and had an incredibly disappointing experience. We booked a family room with a double bed and a single sofa bed, as described and shown in the pictures. After a tiring 7-hour drive, we were given a room with three single beds, which was completely different from what was advertised. Mistakes happen, so we politely went to the reception to address the issue. However, the staff was extremely unhelpful and dismissive, telling us that was all they had and essentially telling us to deal with it. Their attitude was unacceptable and left us feeling frustrated and unwelcome. On top of the poor service, the hotel itself is old and not clean. The level of ignorance from the staff was astonishing. Hotels are all about providing good service, and this place failed miserably. Honestly, this hotel is not even worth staying at for free. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere if you want a pleasant and hassle-free stay.

We hadn't planned to stay here, we had planned on a very early (0400) departure to drive from Geilo to Oslo Gardemoen at the end of a skiing trip. But the weather forecast was looking a bit unfavourable, so we thought it would be prudent to not risk the snow and ice, but break the back of the journey the night prior. Hønnefoss is a natural location; two hours plus from Geilo and within an hour of Gardemoen made it look like a good place to stop. Two things worth noting: firstly rates can be quite a bit cheaper than the Gardemoen airport hotel rates (plus airport hotels always seem to have more noise from fellow guests' late arrivals / early departures). Secondly, when checking ******* and ***********, both showed no availability. However, going to the Scandic website direct, we managed to book a family room, at short-notice, for NOK1895. Two adjacent rooms (ie, a family room), breakfast included, seemed to be pretty good value. Although we arrived just before 2200, the reception was manned and we received a warm welcome. Parking is a bit of a pain; we parked just over the road in front of the hotel, but it charges all through the night and is pretty expensive. Cheaper than a fine I guess, but still a bit alien to us Brits where parking charges tend not to be applied at night. Anyway, the reception area is bright and welcoming, with all you might expect to find with the Scandic brand. Plus a pool table and shuffleboard. The room was OK. Actually it was a bit tired, which does seem to be a bit if a Scandic Hønnefoss trend. But it was for one night, nine hours, so it did the job. Plus points: comfortable bed, nice lighting, warm, big TV, mini-fridge, and was quiet. Minus points: a bit small, other furniture and general decor a bit worn, and the mini-fridge had a glass door so we had an unwanted night light. We unplugged the mini fridge. Issue solved. Bathroom was fine, actually seemed to be modernised. Being a family room, had a mobile seat for the shower. Clean, lots of hot water and the standard Scandic toiletries. The smaller family room had its own sink unit. Breakfast was included, and is the standard Scandic breakfast, through perhaps not quite as 'rock-star' as those I've enjoyed at Scandic Gardemoen. Trondheim and Bodø (but it's smaller, and so I guess scaled appropriately). But is still very good, usual selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, cheese and meats, bread, pastries, hot dishes. And a waffle maker! So take away the slightly tired room furniture and decor, this was a great place to stop over and we would happily stay here again. There is also more to this hotel than we had the opportunity to discover on such a short stay.

Il nostro hotel è stato situato in una bella zona al di fuori di Oslo (circa 45 minuti). Il letto e la camera erano confortevoli forse dovrebbero avere piatti piu'sufficienti da scegliere. 🤣 Ci è un ristorante e un bar. Il colazione era buono.Grande servizio nella zona di pranzo per colazione. La signora che ci ha controllati era molto gentile e professionale. L'uscita era molto facile come abbiamo pagato quando ci siamo iscritti! Le aree dell'hotel sono bellissime. La camera aveva una TV e un piccolo divano da sedere. Molte opere d'arte in tutto il quartiere pubblico dell'hotel, quindi si camminano e guardano tutto.

Non ho mai ricevuto il livello di servizio clienti in nessun hotel del mondo che ho ricevuto qui! Mi sono trattato, così bene, così comodo, e ho anche avuto qualche aiuto per assicurarmi di sapere dove volevo andare! Sono arrivato dopo le 10 del giorno del check-in e sono stato trattato caldamente da Mohammad al desk per il resto del mio soggiorno. Mi consiglierei assolutamente questo hotel a chiunque. Spero anche che Soria Moria riconosca la gemma che hanno a Mohammed!

The best thing about this hotel is the view over Oslo- it really can't be beat. There are two parking options when you arrive- a paid garage (210 NOK/24 hours) with two floors of paid ev charging or a free open lot about a 3min walk down the hill by the Ski Museum. We arrived around 8pm and upon entering our room it was HOT, 28.5 degrees Celsius! It felt like an oven, thank goodness two of the small windows could be opened. Just really frustrating after a day of travel. We ended up having to open the windows every night. Additionally, the way the shower/bathroom is designed the entire floor becomes soaked. There's really no way to contain it or keep it from happening. Staff are kind, however there was a feeling of disconnect between hotel amenities and guests. We weren't informed of anything the hotel had to offer or even when breakfast would start the next day. There are spa facilities and on-site for a price. The pool should be part of the room reservation. The breakfast buffet is very large and nice, however on weekends be aware it doesn't begin till 8am and is packed upon opening. Would be nice to start earlier for those who have an earlier start to the day. To get into the city, it is just a ten minute walk to the T-bane's Holmenkollen station. We found it was easiest to purchase a day pass via Reuter which allowed for unlimited trips on the T-bane in town. Overall, I'd rather pay a little higher price to stay in town over just having this view. Just too much back and forth to the city.

Hotel Leangkollen is a fantastic hotel, situated in a lovely place with fantastic history and great outdoor areas. The hotel has what I/we experienced as Norway's best food for both lunch and dinner. We also had a conference at the hotel, and break food and coffee were always ready between the program. For those who have a conference in the same wing as the rooms, I still have to recommend going to the break section at the reception, which has an even better selection if you have forgotten breakfast, feel like for some fruit, popcorn, sweets or simply soft ice cream. The staff were welcoming with a smile and provided fantastic service througout our entire stay. Don't forget to give a little praise here and there to the individual if you are lucky enough to experience the and the same quality of staff we experencied from arrival to departure. All in all, delighted. The hotel can be highly recommended for conferences in a work context, but also for private overnight stays/travels.
