Järvsöbaden

Järvöbaden is a hotel with refreshingly old-school high standards. It is a lovely Inn with beautiful sitting rooms, perfect for reading when it rains, and lovely gardens for sitting outside.Upon check-in, Inger was able to book my husband and I massages with Petra Stenner. It was wonderful! We highly recommend Petra's very professional massages. Inger also printed us the bus schedule and gave us information on getting to Färila, where my grandfather was born. We ate both breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and I was very pleased to be able to get such tasty gluten free food, as I have celiac disease. Dinners are elegant, with white linen tablecloths and fresh flowers on the tables. The entire staff is professional, polite and very, very helpful. The morning we were checking out, we learned that our train to Arlanda airport had been cancelled. Karin cheerfully sorted that out for us, finding information on the replacement bus that would take us to where our cancelled train would resume. I am not sure we could have sorted that our ourselves! Staying at Staying at Järvsöbaden is like taking a vacation back to a more genteel era.

The building and grounds are gorgeous, and the members of staff are lovely- so helpful and accommodating. We truly enjoyed a spectacular breakfast spread, with some delectable homemade goodies. Unfortunately, we arrived late and left early, so never got to use the facilities, which is what you pay for at a place like this. So for us, it was an expensive stay with not that much comfort. The beds were appropriate for more of a youth hostel or a hospital stay, with pillows akin to those you get for free on airplanes, and very thin, sparse duvets, contradictory to expectations, when staying in an arctic country during wintertime. The rooms are small, but that is to be expected with an old, gorgeously and accurately decorated historical building. Further, as is not uncommon in Scandinavia,- the double bed consists of two twins placed close together, so unless you and your partner have long outgrown closeness during the night, one of you may find yourself stuck in the steadily increasing crack between the two, slowly separating twin beds. The bathroom was clearly cleaned, as surfaces were shiny, but it appears the cleaning crew are avoiding cleaning with bleach (for admirable environmental reasons?), which has resulted in some significant mildew buildup on the grout. This is probably an unforgettable, historical stay, if you have time to utilize the beautiful facilities of the place and your focus is not a good night sleep in a dreamy, comfortable bed.

Ett ok hotell, varken mer eller mindre. Vid jämförelse med andra hotell i samma prisklass så fick jag inte vad jag förväntade mig. Tråkig frukost, saknade frukt och bär.

Klassiskt, fint turisthotell i gott skick. Maten var ok för det priset.

Bra boende. Hjälpsam och trevlig personal. Mycket god och mycket att välja på vid frukosten. Vi är mycket nöjda. Kan varmt rekommenderas.
