Forkis Apartments

When we arrived were we delighted, it looks lovely at first, and of course the location 50 feet off the beach is appealing. A misunderstanding meant we were given a high up room, up lots of steps. I asked for a ground floor as I have minor mobility issues and don’t like heights. There own website shows ground floor rooms and my contact with them confirmed my booking. They didn’t do anything to assist, or offer a solution such as a chair to use downstairs during the day. We were ignored so just thought we would make the best of it anyway. I had a walking stick which helped get up the steps but coming down was tricky as no handrails. After noticing it was all a bit grubby and broken we decided not to stay despite paying in advance. We knew we would lose money but better than a ruined holiday. We booked to stay here 6 nights and stayed 1. I appreciated on booking it was basic accommodation ,and very dated. I had read other negative reviews and decided decor didn’t matter but it was more than old furniture, and did matter. The garden has an old fridge, rubbish all over the place and is certainly not as charming as old photos lead us to believe. Sunbeds are old and broken, some of the steps down to the beach are full of household rubbish so are not in use. The beach is lovely to the right with grass and olive trees, the beach area outside the apartments is scrubby and appears unkept. If you don’t mind heights and steps, like a beautiful view, are not bothered by basic, old furniture ( while they clearly tried to clean when things are so old its not easy to be spotless) and don’t mind having to drive to restaurants then you will probably be pleased staying here, clearly lots of people are judging by the reviews. Unfortunately it wasn’t right for us.
