Hotel in zona St James Church of England, Isle of Grain

We arrived at the hotel in the summer to a friendly welcome from the helpful and enthusiastic staff but with low expectations for our experience after reading previous reviews on this site. Accessing our room required a steep climb up several floors of stairs, as there was no lift, meaning elderly customers would need to book a room on the ground floor. The room was very clean, comfortable, cosy and more than adequate for our needs, and we all enjoyed a good night's sleep in the comfortable beds. We were very impressed with the standard of the food, which was beautifully cooked by the chef Buddhi, who would have easily qualified to work in a much higher grade restaurant, although there was limited choice for meals and no desserts on the menu, however what was available was thoroughly enjoyable. As we stayed under the half-board, which we found very worthwhile, the quality of the meals we had surpassed our expectations. The front of house staff member, Isuru, was very friendly and knowledgeable, and nothing seemed too much trouble for him; he was always approachable and catered to all our needs. However, we discovered a restaurant menu in our room which was out of date, so don't depend on this for the meals available. Overall, we found our stay very enjoyable, excellent value for money and the staff extremely personable, as well as the wonderful food. If you have realistic expectations and are looking for a comfortable, budget hotel for a family break or business trip, you will not be disappointed. We would definitely recommend. Abbiamo soggiornato solo una notte e l'hotel è stato eccellente. Molto amichevole e utile personale. Le foto sul sito sono esattamente quello che si ottiene. La camera era molto pulita e confortevole, eccellente doccia. Non abbiamo usato il ristorante, mentre ci siamo incontrati amici altrove, ma era molto bussato dentro e fuori. Il personale era molto accogliente quando abbiamo chiesto di rimanere nella nostra stanza per un'ora extra. Sicuramente userà di nuovo se viaggiamo nella zona.

Slightly dated decore and the carpet could do with a clean but honestly we both had the best 2 day stay... really friendly staff food was delightful locals made us feel extremely welcome for sure when we visit again we will be staying here 😀 waking up to a sea view was fabulous 👌
