Hotel Isla del Sol

I would 100% recommend this hotel. The staff are absolutely incredible and make the place exceptional. The welcome watermelon popsicle was such a lovely welcome. The food was very good, generous portions, lots of options on the menu, and the staff were always happy to accommodate. The chef is excellent, focused on quality/cleanliness/hygiene, and makes terrific pancakes in the morning. The rooms are very comfortable and the shampoo/soap provided is very nice. The beach is beautiful, but you may want to bring water shoes, as there is some coral on the way in. I would also bring bug repellent because unless there is a strong breeze, the sandflies bite. I would definitely go back. Ideal for families.

We booked a superior bungalow with sea view for 2 nights at a cost of £300 pn, definitely not worth the money. We couldn’t use the terrace as it was too windy, the wind picks up every afternoon. Only allowed 1 beach towel which was old and small. Only allowed 1 bath towel! The only person who can speak English is the lady on reception who leaves later in the afternoon so any issues you may have are unable to be resolved. We were unable to buy a glass of red wine as there were no bottles already open! The quality of breakfast is very basic and items aren’t replenished. The lunch and evening meal are equally bad and repetitive. You have to preorder each meal earlier on the day. It’s so bad I ended up having chicken every lunch and every evening. Only free drinks are soft drinks at meal times.

We were recommended a trip to Rosario islands and were expecting beautiful beaches and an island paradise . Isla Grande is nice but not the long white sand beaches we were expecting. The hotel does a good job getting guests there early and we had read about the day trippers filling the place . Indeed,the day we arrived there were hardly any and on our second day about 50 arrived at 9.30 am and we thought it was going to be unpleasant - but even though it’s a very small area, it was still a lovely day . The room, staff and meals are all ok , the pool area is lovely but we were a little disappointed because the beach is tiny and not so pretty . Still a lovely stay but certainly not more than 1 night

Great place to stay at for a few days. Nice clean bungalows with beautiful view of the sea. Clean and cute beach with great food and drinks. The wifi was reliable and the staff was also very friendly. The hotel offers nice day trips around the island for snorkeling and diving.

Pleasant enough but I wouldn’t go out of my way to stay here again. The pool is lovely and the tiny enclosed beach was nice to rinse off. We stayed in a family room which was a good size. The beach lounges get busy with day trippers so we missed out on the first day. They are also very uncomfortable as they don’t have cushions. The activities could have been better coordinated by a central person. Instead they were arranged by different people who we aid directly. We were never quite sure what they involved, but were fun enough in the end. A leaflet or something which explains the prices and describes what you’re going to do would benefit future visitors. We didn’t bring much cash - we could pay for the massage by card, but for some reason not other activities. Inconvenient. We wanted to rent kayaks but they don’t have any. The massage was hit and miss - one of us had ca good experience, the other was disappointing (despite asking for strong pressure clearly in Spanish it was very gentle). They also used way too much oil. The local reef close to the beach is ok but nothing special. All in all Isla Grande was not a highlight of our otherwise great trip to Colombia

A friend and I stayed here for 2 nights and loved it. We booked a boat to and from Cartagena with ease through the hotel. From the moment we got to the port, the attentive staff made sure we knew where we were going and were very well looked after - all with a language barrier (our bad, we are not good at Spanish). We were the only English speaking people on the boat out of 50 or so and the guide made a point to translate everything for us. Once we arrived, Camilo at reception was welcoming and made sure our belongings were stored safely before check in. Camilo was our resident translator during our stay and was so kind. Thank you! It's a smaller hotel and the service was very intimate, which we loved. A really nice relaxing, laid back a**osphere to get away from the chaos of the city. There's tons of activities to do, guided or not, if that's what you're in to, and they're not pushy about it. Rooms are basic but clean, the shower is great. Not a big deal, you're never in them anyway. Hammock - A+. Staff at the bar are amazing, friendly and attentive. Shout out to Marie. Honestly, all staff amazing. Now food. Breakfast is a buffet with a nice light selection - eggs, fruit, arepas. Lunch is wild with so many options, the biggest meals we had there. And by wild I mean great. Dinner also great. By all means food is good. Loved this place. Would recommend if you want a quiet relaxing night or two. Thanks Isla del Sol!

We stayed here 2 years ago, nice to be back at Isla Del Sol and to see how much they improved and updated the resort - a nice new reception. The full board meal is still outstanding and you are seated separately from the day tourists All this made our stay outstanding

Buyers beware of false advertising! Booked through booking and it said all meals/drinks included. In description it said only additional charges for wine/champagne. Not true they will charge you for water!! There are set times for meals and menu is very limited and is the same daily. The beach is only 50’ long. They have day trippers that come in and will fill up the resort from 9:30-3 daily. Once you are stuck on this island there is nothing to do. You can pay to snorkel or scuba dive but that’s about it. It felt like a prison but with worse wifi. Definitely would not go back. Booking and management did nothing about the false advertising just said they would change wording in the future.

Peaceful place 😇 Very relaxing place nearby cartaghena The staff is extremely helpful and kind. In the evening, when all the groups leaves at 3pm you have the beach for your self The food and buffet are elaborated and 🤤 There is also a massage service and many activities proposed by the hotel. They also can arrange you transport back to cartaghena always with the smile 😊
