"晨起不必鐘錶喚醒，自有鳥聲盈耳。披衣出户，園中空氣清新，夾着棗葉特有的清香氣，吸入肺腑，頓覺神清氣爽。棗樹下設有石桌石凳，清晨坐於此間，捧書閲讀，或衹是默坐，皆相宜。偶有熟透的棗子從枝頭墜落，“啪”的一聲輕響，打破寂靜，反而更襯出園中之靜。
日間可在園中漫步。棗樹行列整齊，小徑潔凈，踏足其上，軟土微陷，步履甚輕。這園中棗樹皆有年歲，最老者逾千年矣，依然果實繁茂。我聽之不禁肅然，仰視那些蒼勁樹幹，恍若聽見時光流淌的聲音。
夜間棗園別有情趣。天上星斗分明，因離城遠，無燈火干擾，銀河清晰可見。屋內不必點燈，月光已透過窗欞，灑了一地銀白。卧聽窗外風聲、蟲聲，間或有夜鳥啼鳴，自然而然生出“人閑桂花落”的意境來。
我來此數次，覺身心俱凈，塵慮盡消。都市中紛擾煩惱，至此皆被棗香滌凈。想來天地間美好之境，不必是名山大川，如此一棗園，亦足以安頓倦旅之身心了。
棗園之妙，不在奢華，而在其樸；不在廣袤，而在其精。四時景色不同，朝夕氣象各異，而總能予人以寧靜安適之感。人居其間，不自覺地便慢了下來，靜了下來，開始注意到平日忽略的細微之物：一片葉的脈絡，一聲鳥的鳴叫，一線光的變化。
此種體驗，豈是尋常旅店所能給予？棗園之居，實在不僅是棲身之所，更是洗心之地。"
