Kastro Hotel

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Kastro a small family run business. The hotel is located on top of the hill with excellent views of the ocean. There is parking outside the hotel and is reachable on foot via the road or staircase leading directly into the town Center. A short walk will take you to Therma. We loved the location and views. Very well priced and super clean hotel with the best views in town.

I would tell every human being on earth to stay away from this hotel. This past summer I had to make an emergency reservation to get to Ikaria as soon as possible and stay over 30 days. My father was dying and I was just battling breast cancer. In the last 2 years I had 5 surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy. In booking this hotel nowhere in the description did they state they had stairs and when I say stairs I mean too many to go up and down in my condition. Not only were there at least 30 stairs, the place was on a hilltop. If you're a goat it would be a perfect place to stay. When I got to the hotel and saw what they offered I knew I could not physically stay there. In speaking with the owner who knew my father and the condition he was in refused to credit me anything. I lost $700 dollars and never stayed one night in the hotel. If human kindness and decency can not be shown in troubled times then when can it be shown? There are many places to stay on this beautiful island. Just stay away from this horrible human being and his establishment! When even the locals tell you the place is bad you should stay away!

Our experience at this Hotel was terrible. The receptionist at the desk couldn't be bothered. She took us to the room she put the key in the lock it wouldn't even turn. The receptionist left us to work out how to open the door ourselves. Once inside, the fridge wasn't turned on, the air-conditioning wasnt turned on. The room was like a hotbox. By the time we worked out how the air-conditioning worked and turned on the fridge to put some water in because it was over 40 degrees and we were so hot while we were outside trying to work out how things worked. The room was so small you couldn't swing a cat in it. We were 4 people 2 double beds. Thats fine, one downstairs and one up stairs on a mezzanine which we couldn't stand upright in and hit our heads on the ceiling several times throughout the night. No care factor from the reception girl whatsoever. All she was interested in was sitting on the couch and looking at her phone every minute she could. Apparently there was a pool which we found out about after we left the place and nobody bothered to tell us that there was one. We will never be going back to that place again and definitely will not recommend it to anyone. Put us off of Ikaria which is an amazing place ...😡

Very nice and friendly staff

Es liegt als eine aus 3 Gebäuden bestehenden Anlage an einem Berghang und aus unserem Zimmer (mit Balkon ) hatten wir einen herrlichen Ausblick auf die sehr ansprechende Stadt, den Hafen und das Meer. Wir haben während unseres Aufenthaltes in dieser sehr freundlichen Stadt nichts Besseres gesehen. Unser Zimmer war angemessen groß und sehr ansprechend gestaltet Sehr angenehm war auch das Personal. Wir wurden sehr freundlich behandelt und insbesondere der Besitzer war sehr kompetent und hilfsbereit. Wir verdanken ihm zahlreiche gute Tips. Einziger Nachteil: wir waren hier Mitte Mai Gäste (=Vorsaison) und aufgrund der wenigen Besucher (wir sind während unseres 3-tägigen Aufenthalts keinen ausländischen Touristen begegnet) war leider das recht ansehnliche swimming-pool noch nicht geöffnet. Trotzdem: Bei einen durchaus möglichen Besuch auf dieser netten Insel und in dieser freundlichen Stadt sind wir sicher hier wieder Gäste.
