Hobart: hotel a 2 stelle

I stayed at a Imperial backpackers two years ago and was very keen to persuade my four friends to stay with me this time. Frustratingly, a bunch of little irritating things add up to a negative review, when actually Imperial backpackers should be a great place to stay. The kitchen is great, with lots of equipment and fridges and space for your food. The hot water in the bathrooms takes a while but it’s really hot when it does come through. Beds are comfy and the room had an efficient heater. And there’s a guy called John who is so helpful – he was a guest last time. I was there, but now he works for the organisation. All in all, it should be a five star place. However, in the past couple of years, I don’t think they’ve done much maintenance In our room, the locker doors were either locked shut or couldn’t be shut (and there was no place to put the padlock that the website suggested we bring!). Our flyscreens were also badly torn, while in our friends’ room across the hall, there were gaps at bottom and top of the windows, which let in both freezing blasts of winter air, and the hideous smell of cigarette smoke from directly beneath the windows. Stuffing several towels in the gap eventually did the trick, but it shouldn’t be necessary. And there’s a bunch of inaccurate/ misleading/ dangerous signage. Firstly, there are 2 huge fire doors as you climb the stairs from the night entrance. They both have large signs saying they must be kept shut at all times (they are, after all, fire doors). But they are both left open all the time, and I was told have been for a while. On the main entrance door, opposite reception, the biggest sign says office house are 9-5.30pm (same as last time) but right below it is another sign saying office hours are 9.30-230pm This shorter opening time impacted our stay in several ways,l. With that office only open from 930 to 230pm, eerything else is “ after hours”. So, if you want to use the laundry - you pay a deposit and a per hour fee - you have to do so between 930 and 2:30 pm. If you want to leave your bags during the day, after checking out at 10 am, you can only do so till 2:30 pm. (Last time we left our bags until 5pm , when we got the Skybus to the airport(. We phoned the Imperial number, at 3pm on day 2 , to ask for a second key to our room, and we’re told that there would be an “after hours fee” of $20, even though it was still 3 pm. None of this happened on our first visit, and the website doesn’t mention that all the services mentioned are only available 5 hours/ day. So, like I said, I should be giving a great rating, but I’d go for 2 1/2 stars.

Si trova in un quartiere tranquillissimo Battery point a 10 minuti dal porto e dal Salamanca market del sabato . Non può essere considerato un ostello perché ha più l’aspetto di una casa . Il proprietario sembra un po’ rude ma ti aiuta per qualsiasi cosa tu abbia bisogno. Frequentato da ragazzi , uomini e donne di una certa età (come me) e famiglie . La pulizia è i marchio di garanzia . E di Sto arrivando! L’esempio fa tanto e tutti lasciano tutto in ordine come fanno gli altri . Sono stata veramente bene

Non mi consiglierei di rimanere al centro di YHA Hobart. Ho soggiornato con YHA negli ultimi 13 anni e in tutto il mondo, e non sono mai stato trattato così crudele! Nel dicembre 2022 ho prenotato una stanza privata con un suite, poi rimasti nel marzo 2023. Ho confermato la mia prenotazione, pagato la mia prenotazione, e a partire da Melbourne a Hobart il mio aereo è stato ritardato. Ho ordinato l'albero per farli sapere che venivo ancora, ma il mio volo sarà in ritardo. Non mi sono detto che non mi preoccupare, riceverete un messaggio di testo con il numero della vostra stanza e il numero di pin, in cui non ho ricevuto. Mi sono ritirato appena prima che il velivolo uscisse, e il ricevitore mi ha dato il numero della stanza e il numero del pin. Quando sono arrivato alla proprietà era tardi, sono andato in camera, ho messo il numero del pin e sono entrato nella stanza. Quando camminai, un uomo e il suo compagno mi sarebbero saluti, siamo stati tutti in shock, avrei potuto entrare nella loro stanza. Ho ordinato il numero di ricezione dopo le ore in cui mi sono salutato da un ricevitore molto rude, che ha continuato a dire che l'albero era completamente prenotato per quella notte! Le ho detto: ”Mi dispiace che debba fare qualcosa, ho prenotato e pagato per questa stanza di nuovo a dicembre, ho appena potuto andare in camera di qualcun altro con il numero che mi è stato dato e ora mi sta dicendo che l'albero è completamente prenotato!” Continuò a spruzzare entrambi i fianchi sul banco, con una lingua profusa e mi disse di uscire. - Sono ancora in miscredenza, sono entrato in una stanza che mi è stata data come mia, ma mi sono già salutata con un altro coppia! Non consiglierei mai di rimanere in questo ostello!!!

The room was clean and as described. The location is fantastic, walking distance to everything. It's a bit tight with the two beds, but we weren't spending tons of time in the room anyway. The twin bed was not the most comfortable but the queen was better. It can get a bit loud when the bar has music playing. They tell you this up front so it was expected. You can hear people pretty clearly if you're in the right part of the building, but they shut down promptly at closing time, around 9 or 10pm, and then it gets very quiet. The staff is friendly. Check-in and check out were very easy.

Abbiamo goduto di un soggiorno di due notti qui in giugno. La nostra camera spaziale era convenientemente situata sul piano terra sul lato della Molle Street. Anche se il tempo era piuttosto freddo, eravamo caldi e confortevoli con un riscaldatore e un cavo elettrico in camera. Ci piaceva l'atmosfera di lusso dell'edificio storico, del mobilio e della decorazione interessanti, ma il bagno era vecchio ma funzionale e molto pulito. Il colazione è ben curato con una vasta gamma di cereali, pane, diffusi, latte e succhi disponibili per servirci nella sala colazione. John è un ottimo ospite e chiaramente pronto a fare un giro in più, perché ha dovuto aspettare tardi una notte per alcuni ospiti che non erano arrivati al momento previsto.Il nostro unico problema era il rumore del traffico dall'intersezione di Macquarie e Molle Street. Questo continuò fino a tardi e alla notte, e cominciò presto al mattino, eccetto per un soggiorno perfetto.
