Premier Inn Saffron Walden hotel

Sadly restaurant was closed due to a refurbishment starting but staff was excellent and on top a 24 hrs free Coffee / tea bar was open for guests

The receptionist had a very off hand attitude, everything seemed an imposition. Ok I arrived early, but was happy to wait 45 mins to give them my order at 6:30 pm. People came and sat down I assumed they pre-booked. Orders were taken at 6 o/c. At no point was I given a menu or asked if I wanted to order. Waitress was not busy. After the allotted time I left and had a lovely meal at Wetherspoons. The receptionist would be better off in the housekeeping department away from customers.

Shower would only spray hot water. Sink tap faulty spraying in all directions and toilet flush very weak. Reported it to reception which was met with “ok we’ll make a note of that!”.

Lovely comfy bed and pillows. No staff available all doing multiple jobs. Room was dusty. Food was mediocre. You had to find staff just to order and again to pay at the end.

Everything except the dinner was awesome. Very expensive dinner for what it was. Quality of food was really bad. Also there was only one member of staff for the bar and the entire restaurant. Both staff members on shift that night in the entire hotel, doing absolutely everything should get a raise and a promotion.

No towels in room, ordered a streak in restaurant asked for medium it came overcooked when l complained to waitress she wasn’t least bit interested. Bar ran out of beer when ordering at dinner. Tried frozen fruit at breakfast still frozen rock hard. Our friends had to change rooms as toilet did not flush . Lots of lime scale in bathroom and very low water pressure. Have stayed premier inn many times but this has put me off for future stays.
