The Bridge Guest House

Amazing service and even more amazing breakfast. We were welcomed with a hot pot of tea by the fireplace while we checked in. Nice comfortable.room overlooking the river. But the highlight was the breakfast, absolutely amazing!

We love this hotel. We stayed in May 2024 and have also stopped here on two previous occasions. The rooms are good sized, well equipped and really clean. Beds are comfy and the bed linen is spotless. The communal living room is cosy and a comfortable place where you can relax in the evening. Breakfast is served in the spacious and spotless dining room from a buffet and is great quality. There is no evening meal served here but there are two pubs and a restaurant within a stones throw, so if you need a later meal there is plenty of choice. The hotel has secure off-road parking for your car or there’s indoor bike storage if you’re cycling through. And the hotel proprietor is an absolute diamond. Welcoming, friendly and a great source of local knowledge. We have found that nothing is too much trouble for him - he is just a genuinely nice chap who wants to do the best he can for his guests. This place is our hotel of choice when travelling on the Scottish East coast.

Another great stay at The Bridge. Always welcoming , with clean, spacious rooms in an interesting old building. Breakfast is self-service and there is a good selection. Always asked if we want more of anything, and host tries to cater for everyone’s requests. Will be happy to return when I am next in the area.

Hans is a remarkable host, very welcoming, good stories to share, was very helpful to us , lovely big and clean rooms with very comfortable beds, he is hard working, and very kind. Very good stay. Thank you so much, tasty stornoway black pudding for breakfast too.

Hans is an excellent host, nothing is too much trouble. He has excellent knowledge of the local and surrounding areas. The rooms are spotlessly clean and very spacious. Breakfast is fabulous. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Lovely stay in Helmsdale as part of our NC500 tour. We had the family room which was great for parents and children or (as in our case) parents travelling with an adult tag along daughter ;) Great location in Helmsdale which is a small but lovely town. The museum opposite is good with a nice shop and cafe. We were spoilt with amazing weather which showed Helmsdale and the hotel off in its best light! The harbour is lovely too. Pet friendly hotel which was great. Breakfast was varied and buffet style. Would recommend!

Unique, felt like the home of an outdoorsman. Rom was damp and musty smelling. No shower. Windows painted shut. Breakfast was nice, host was very nice.

Restored 1816 inn, locally family owned and run. Picturesque village. In an area seeped in history. One of the best hotel experiences i have ever had in my 79 years.

Our stay was lovely our room was beautiful and the host Hans was absolutely superb,nothing was to much trouble.He was welcoming friendly and chatty. The only downside with our room was there was only 1 socket in the room.(Difficult when both needing phones and electrical equipment charged.Also the room did not have a mirror.
