This was a very funky stay. Cosy room with modern facilities, excellent shower, love.y view from our bedroom window. Very welcoming staff/manager nothing was too much trouble, we arrived late and they offered us room service or in the restaurant . Evening meal was delicious Thankyou Sara n Rob xx

Unfortunately after a really nice stay there was some confusion as to whether or not our breakfast was included. After being advised that it was, we all sat down to our breakfast cereal and tea. Once we were half way through eating we were told that there had been a mistake and breakfast wasn't included. We offered to pay for what we had had, but were told that we needed to pay £15 each, as even though we had only had cereal and a pot of tea we needed to pay for a full English too. We did actually pay this amount (£75 in total) but were later advised that as a gesture of good will we would be reimbursed. Unfortunately this still has not happened even though I have contacted them 3 times. I am still waiting for a reply. Such a shame. We won't be staying again

Booked 3 Night break for The Hive at Poppy Red in December for £140 per night , expectations where high, bitterly disappointed. No basic housekeeping daily, no coffee pods replenished or cups and glasses replaced So paid dearly for a boutique Hotel that has no Services!!!! Had an email with directions how to get in room via a back door entrance up an alley with dustbins and old bits of rubbish not a good start On the upside a beautiful bathroom and bedroom, but woken every morning by workmen Refurbishing the Poppy Red Cafe and bar We had no email to state this was happening as If I had know would have cancelled booking So if you looking for a Hotel that self catering With no services for a luxury price this is the hotel for you

Very disappointed, we had to cancel our stay due to Covid, I called to cancel 8 days before our stay. I was advised to email with some changes of dates, which I did twice. I then tried to call, Ollie the manager told me to email again, still no response. I called again and spoke to a lady and explained I had emailed several times and not had a response, so requested a refund. She explained she would need to have the refund authorised by Ollie the manager and promised me a call back that day. Still waiting for the phone call 3 weeks on. In the meantime I have emailed again and left several voicemails. Still not been contacted. Pity really we were really looking forward to staying. Doesn’t look like the money I paid will be refunded anytime soon. Customer Service 0 Communication 0

The rooms are beautifully appointed, warm, very cosy. Plenty of drinks provided in the room, including a Tassimo coffee machine. Very well furnished, plenty of towels - all the details make this a perfect place to stay. Great location in the village, with parking close by. The breakfast is fantastic.

Fabulous short stay: Perfect location, public car park 2 mins walk away, small village but really friendly, lots of lovely walks all well signposted. The room we stayed in was compact but spotless clean and had tea, coffee; tassimo with pods etc, shower was great, toiletries included. The Poppi Red breakfast which we had included was the best in Cumbria and set you up for the day ahead. Staff were really pleasant and friendly. A great stay would recommend The Hive and we will be back.

The Hive at Poppi Red was excellent. We stayed in the Tarn How’s Suite with lovely decor and finishing touches including coffee machine, fridge with juices, luxury local shower gel/bath products. Breakfast was fantastic and included in our room rate. We didn’t realise there was a restaurant for evening meal in cafe below which we would have booked if we’d have known as lovely atmosphere and decor. Lots of local pubs in walks by distance. We took our dog for an extra £10 per night and it was all very dog friendly. Car park in village £8.50 for 24hrs and handy to hotel. Would recommend and definitely hope to return as was lovely place to stay

Clean, friendly and great amenities. The Hive is above a bistro called Poppi-red in a quaint village in Hawkshead which is situated in the Lake District Ambleside. Would highly recommend it as it is a clean modern hotel and bistro, staff are very friendly people and very helpful, also dog friendly ( dogs are allowed to stay with you in your room) and very popular with walkers with dogs

The accomodations and attached bistro are by far the most exemplary establishment in Hawkshead. We have been regular visitors for over 16 years and watched how this gem has grown adapted and developed. If you want a quality stay this the place in the center of the village with everything close at hand. The food is professionally cooked and breakfast is superb. We will be back again and again. Thank you for an amazing stay.
