Hotel in zona Backbarrow Iron Works, Haverthwaite

Booked through ******* where this hotel had a rating of 9. I would put at nearer a 7. Rooms were ok….clean and comfortable enough. En-suite was nice as had been refurbed. Communal areas tired. Breakfast area and restaurant more like a cafe. I had the garlic mushrooms with lemon and time on bruschetta with a side salad, this was a starter as a main. Really weird flavor….really didn’t enjoy. Creamy garlic mushrooms would have been nicer….the bruschetta wasn’t toasted hardly and was soggy…£9. Hubby lasagne was nice £17. Noticed someone getting sausage and mash in a smallish bowl. Two sausages and a bit of mash….£19.50! 😳 Also saw on the menu a cheesecake dessert was £9.50!!! Expensive and average! Breakfast was awful….cold plates, barely cooked bacon and sausage….hash browns that you couldn’t even cut into….just not nice! Staff were friendly enough but on arrival our tv wasn’t working….husband went down twice to advise….as he was desperate to watch the football. Was told it would be 8pm (2 hours) before anyone could help. Was offered another room instead but when he went to look at it he said it was a bit grim dark and dingy so stayed where we were and managed to get tv going. Then we realised we weren’t given the WiFi password when checked in so back down to reception he went….more than a little annoyed by this time! Anyway overall as I said just bang average….just off a really busy road too so road noise from our room was bad too….the header photo on ******* had a water view so that’s where we thought it was set. Wouldn’t stay again…..would have rather spent my money elsewhere….costly average experience 👎

First time back at this splendid hotel since my daughter had her wedding there 10 years ago which I have to say was amazing, but I have to say it’s not looking as good as it was, I feel it’s looking a little tired in places some of the furniture in the lounges is looking past it’s best and grubby, our room was nice though, clean and comfortable, our evening meal was good but breakfast could of been better the food had obviously been cooked well before we went to breakfast, the staff were very pleasant, I just hope the owners don’t let it slip too bad it would be such a shame

Back at YHA Hawkshead for a 3 night staying in a private room. We were in the Courtyard building. We used the self-catering kitchen and found the facilities to be great. The outdoor shower was a new addition - fun to take a shower in a corrugated tin shed in the outdoors! We had a few games of Pool in the games room one evening as well as a game of Scrabble in the courtyard lounge. It was lovely to encounter families with young children who were in the teepees and camping pods. We ourselves cycled from the hostel to Grizedale forest on one day and walked around Tarn Hows on another. Also got to swim in Coniston lake and in High Dam tarn. A great summer break in the Lakes!

L'ambiente è un grande albero verde circondato, il ristorante ha anche il suo piccolo giardino. Il giardino è il tipo di camera che abbiamo scelto. La stanza è davvero piccola. Tutti i bagagli devono essere portati a terra, e ci sono troppi bagagli.La stanza è davvero molto vecchia. I mobili possono vedere il senso dell'età e il senso della casa di vacanza rurale. Il bagno è anche molto mini, l'acqua calda non è troppo calda, ma la temperatura è la più alta.La finestra è molto vecchia, ma il letto è molto comodo, è un posto per dormire.La colazione è molto buona, ha gustato il pasto intero premiato, ancora troppo carne, ma il bar di frutta è molto buono, raccomandato. La ricezione e il servizio qui sono alcune vecchie nonne, molto gentile e buono.E la posizione geografica è molto buona, a piedi tre minuti al porto della crociera, e un buon prezzo hotel.

Stai bene. Grande ospite (Michelle) con immenso conoscenza della zona e consigli ideali sulle cose da fare, posti da mangiare, ecc. Situazione fantastica. Sicuramente ritornerebbe.

Hotel overall was lovely, staff was lovely, rooms could do with a bit of updating and room was quiet damp of mould in certain places, sink took a little time to empty, shower was lovely, a throw away from the train station and about 15 min walk to Windermere lake

L'unico problema è che la vecchia casa non ha ascensore, ma il servizio è buono, la colazione è buona, e deve prenotare una buona posizione per cena in tempo.
